If we have a bunch of potential superstars why they hell should we be trading them?

3. I do everything possible to finish as badly as possible so the Oilers get a shot at drafting either Seth Jones, Jonathan Drouin, Nathan MacKinnon or Aleksander Barkov. All four players would solve a problem on the Oilers roster if drafted.

You continue to make excuses the Oilers are young. How does drafting 18 year olds solve the problem? Doesn't that make you full of excuses next year as well? There is no way Tamo or whoever is the GM prior to the draft should be even looking at Drouin, Barkov or McKinnon. You need D, not forwards.

Speaking of superstars hav OVie done enough in his career so far to be considered a superstar.

His first couple of years no question, but his last couple after the HGH scandal has he done enough?

I will be truthful I have a problem putting the Sedins into the superstar category . I think the term gets thrown around way to much.

Gretz Hull Messier Howe Crosby Malkin Ovie Stamkos Richard Orr . That to me is a superstar.

Oates Sedins Mahovolich are very good playes but not top 3

I personally think you look back on a career and see if a guy was a superstar.

I don't call OV one right now either...I am borderline with Stamkos (just something about him) but I would not argue against him having superstar as a title, 3 straight 90+ seasons and a 1.5 ppg pace this year...

I think that Capitals team has been criminally mismanaged. One playoff series against a goalie playing out of his mind and they totally committed to a system playing away from all their strengths.

No though, I don't think OV has. He did for a while for sure, but whether it was an actual HGH thing or just a case of coaches trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, he is not in the superstar category anymore.

i know people always say take the best player available, but in this case, edm should most likely take jones. this team needs help, and drafting a prospect that needs to work on thing 2-3 years before helping the big team is counter productive. barkov might be a good future 2nd line centre for edm, but for edm, who is most nhl ready, draft jones.

Depending on where the draft spot winds up being Ristolainen and Pulock would also be good ones.

Most fan bases overvalue their own players.

Hall is 6'1 and going to be payed 6 mil for the next 7 years.

Not that it matters what I think , but I don't classify 6,1 as a power forward. To me he is a good second line forward. He has 4 goals this year and to be playing on an offensive first minded team ,that is not good enough.

He is a decent second liner but that is just my opinion.

Hall is awesome. His compete level is second to no one and if there is any flaw in his game it's that he plays with too much emotion and needs to think more. I can't fault him for that. I consider Hall as the best asset the Oilers have. NO ONE is untouchable! Crosby straight up for Eberle? no, Ebs is untouchable. haha THey are all just inputs to a business and everything has a value. Personally I value Hall the highest for what he brings.

Close. I think the stock piling of more prospects is pointless. I think we need that like we need a hole in the head. What are we going to do with them? Start to AHL teams? We need to start turning our prospects into one or two elite players. Smid and Hemsky might be enough to get us a real goalie or a top 4 dman. We can't just keep throwing rookies out there and saying they will get better. At some point in time we need to find a player that has proven he is good NOW and pick him up.

I also think Omark has little value so signing him and playing his next year is the best idea for him. He will be cheap and even as the extra forward on the team, I think we have proven that we have enough injuries to warrant his skills. Then when he shows his worth we trade him.

Kruger doesn't seem to have much emotion about anything. Is it possible this is translating to the players? he should have been absolutely livid after last night yet still...I think the time for coddling these guys is done. They need some tough love.

Agreed . We can not settle this discussion for at least 5-6 years.

This discusson is settled now, today. Taylor Hall would be the best player the Canucks EVER had. Period.

You're trolling in a very sneaky way with this conversation. Hall is indeed a superstar. He has been since a very young age and he will continue to do so.

What a crock.

Omark??? Why in the ever loving (frank) are we even still bringing his name up? Did Schremp teach us nothing? Cut him loose and move on.

One guy on the Canucks I would hate to give up is Hansen. As stupid as it sounds he is just as valuable as anyone not named Sedin on the Canucks.

He brings a great forecheck ,speed , hits ,scores PK PP and a grat cap hit. Teams really don't pay enough attention to 3 rd and 4 th liners.

He brings the same game every time ,every shift. I know people are going to say Dude you have Kesler and Edler and you are comparing this plug to them?

Underrated players like him and Bieksa provide the pulse for the team and rarely get the credit.
