Thats a ridiculous statement. |

Thats probably what it would take, though they would say Ebs or Hall. - doon
I think Nuge can get it done. You need a player of that style. Look what Prust did for Mtl and that was a UFA pickup. Sign Ryan Clowe in the off season, even if you slightly over pay. Look for guys like Hartnell, Morrow, Jagr. Trade for Pietrangelo. |

It's a start. It will make a huge difference. You'll be a playoff team. Find a way to trade for Pietrangelo or Hedman. |

There are many issues with the Oilers but as a fan its frustrating when they continually hire coaches that are apparently good with young players.
News flash, it didn't work with Rennie and it isn't working with Krueger. |

So instead of sucking for the next 5 yrs until our core is ready to dominate. Why dont we trade some young players to get competitive. I totally agree that nuge hall and eberle plus shultz are not going but what about yakupov he must have some value right. That would be a start at least we would know Tambellini is still alive right. Must be nice to get paid to do nothing!!! - gaetanroussel
Do you really believe after just a few more years of sucking that any of the core would even want to be hear anymore?? NOT |

Go get Ekman-Larsson or Larsson from NJ. You can dangle Nuge, Yak, Gagne, your 1st pick |

How on earth can anyone justify having a team captain that is the bottom 10% in skill, speed, goals, everything. He doesn't intimidate, he doesn't have any of the kids' respect, he is too complacent, he is overpaid....
The puck dies on your team captain's stick 75% of the times you manage to work your tail off to get him the puck.
Not only is Horcoff not worthy of earning their respect, I'll bet they secretly are actually annoyed by his presence. Name me a worse team captain in the NHL.
Has no one ever played with that guy that thinks he is so much better than he is, just because he's been there longer?
THe team needs leadership and they do not have it, plain and simple. Do you think all of those cups were because of Gretzky and Coffee? no, they were because of Messier, Lowe, Huddy, Hunter, McClelland, etc. Who are THOSE GUYS on this team? I only see a bunch of wannabe Gretzky's. and guess what?

You should of traded for Subban when you had the chance. He chews up a lot of minutes. Mtl won't trade him now. |

Bottom 10? Really? And yes, one could argue that Greztky was the major part of winning those cups. |

Your right. Fire Lowe and everyone below. There are some good hockey guys out there.
You still could of gotten Subban. Now you better hope you can get Jones. Otherwise trade the pick. |

It all depends on how willing he is to make those wholesale moves. I pointed out in another thread that turfing an old boys club management group worked pretty well in Montreal. I think Edmonton needs to cut ties with the dynasty days for good. No Lowe, no MacT, no Messier, no Gretzky. Nothing. - sanfordnson
I agreed then too. its really incredible what a fesh set of minds can do with a team. that being said I think some of the untouchables need to go to bring in the gel that will make this team elite.
think about it hoe many teams a re doing it with less talent. keep hall eberle schultz ?? the rest trade bait? |

No way, Cloutier once again has his list of players to keep & not to keep & to no one's surprise, the list of "not to keeps" is all garbage - wow that took intelligence to figure that out.
And now Cloutier is talking about if we could add Jones, Drouin, Mackinnon or Barkov, we'd be fine. Well actually Drouin is not big so how would he help??
Second, you need defense, not forwards so stop with this garbage of continuing to add forwards when clearly your defense is the problem.
See, the Oilers could improve pretty quick IF they stop telling all of us about this so-called "untouchables" list. Move a couple of those players & bring back a top-line d-man & a gritting winger who can score.
Enough already with the "untouchable" list because clearly, this "untouchable" list isn't doing squat!! |
