My point was that I would bring a different coaching style... And yes, coaching is the main issue with this team right now. Sorry, the players still get raped though...The management gets 2x... Coaching staff gets 3x. - laughs2907
Hey you newfied lobster raping (frank)er, did you get that job at Targay or am I still converting my dogs room to a nice crawl space for you when ya move to Alberta??? |

Flames are kinda like Ottawa.. 1 good pick could change the momentum of the team. Oilers on the other hand.. well it must be frustrating |

"I do everything possible to finish as badly as possible" That is already what the Oilers did last .... many years... and what they continue to do.
The management try to finish last and after that you want your player to care about loosing...
It's come from the top just like everyday work. If your boss don't care the workers doesn't care.
So the Oilers need to change and fast. |

The blog was sort of interesting, I kept reading a bit...until the part about "these are the players I'd keep" and you list basically this same team.
It's over, break them up. A good way to grow up a rookie fast is to have him suddenly lose his roommate to a trade..."oh yeah, this is a business" "I was having so much fun I forgot" "man, I could get traded too".
Blow it up. I say you take the top six and decide which THREE you wanna keep.
It has to start in goal, trade whoever and get a top 5 goalie. Dubnyk isn't the guy, look in his eyes, he has Tom Gilbert syndrome. conversely, look into Landeskog's eyes...or a guy like Callehan on the NYR, or BRandon Prust here in MTL. NOBODY has a serious "I wanna win if I have to stick you in the throat" attitude.
This isn't a bad team or a young team, it's a group of guys getting paid to play shinny. I clearly saw RNH last night standing completely still after he lost the puck in the Ozone....it took him a good 10seconds to pick up his feet and get back on D....HE IS THE CENTER FOR F SAKE!!! THere's no way a team will ever win with the C playing that irresponsibly.
The C doesn't backcheck (he should be the 3rd man back), then the wingers have to cheat, the D backs in, and we have a mediocre goalie. repeat, repeat repeat.
End it, get a coupld of C's that play the position. |

"My wife says to me on the drive home tonight, "why are the Oilers so terrible?"
This is awesome as you have somehow convinced her that you know enough about hockey to actually answer this question for her. Lies are never good in relationships so maybe just say the truth "I honestly have no (frank)ing Idea pudding pants. We are almost at Dairy Queen anyways". Sometimes it is good to tell the truth. - ruttager17
hahahahshaahahshs x 1000 cough cough hahaha
whatd doubly hilarious is that in his solution, he went out and got younger and then suggested we get 'a' vet. you don't fail and then get more young talent. whst kind of attitude are you bringing into the dressing room with a losing culture.... the are kids and there should be 4 -25-35 year old vets. and that mean non of the current ones there. clouts words escape me on how little you know about the sport. |

Your move Katz. What matters more? The current state of the team or a boyhood idol?
I saw someone suggest earlier firing Lowebellini and Krueger and bringing in Burke and Ruff. While this sort of move scares me to death I'm at the point where I say, "Why the (frank) not?" This team has the talent that they absolutely should be doing better than this. Even last year, as bad as they finished, I left the season thinking pretty positively and looking forward to this year. Now...they've taken no steps forward and actually regressed. It's incomprehensible. |

Holy sh1t!!! I never heard that!!! I really think that could be the answer, no kidding. It would also sting quite a bit for KLowe, who should be stung in my opinion. |

wait till the offseason and I think guy boucher will be in edm. the guy is a whiz with young talent. that being said upon reflection in the time it took me to write this. burke and ruff wouldnt be all that bad. burke is a solid gm and I really think he gets a bum rap. the leafs are looking pretty goodright now. that being said the common theme for teams that are ssucceeding this year that were flops last uear is a whosale change in managment and coaching. hint hint katzz |

It all depends on how willing he is to make those wholesale moves. I pointed out in another thread that turfing an old boys club management group worked pretty well in Montreal. I think Edmonton needs to cut ties with the dynasty days for good. No Lowe, no MacT, no Messier, no Gretzky. Nothing. |

Hey Cloutier, same time last year and the year before that and the year before that, you said the same thing. You just add your last 1st pick to your protected list. You need to trade one of your young studs a go get a couple of veterans. You need depth an toughness. You need a real GM who has a vision. You guys are collecting young potential stud hoping to recreate Gretzky's Oilers of the 80. Never going to happen. |

I'll tell you another thing that screwed this all up, that stupid OIL CHANGE show. Does Columbus, Nashville, NYI, FLA have a show like that? Why not? they're in the same sort of situation as the Oilers.
I would expect a lot of sweat and hopefully blood at practice this morning. If I don't hear about a horrible bag skate and a so-called physical "controvery" betwen a few players at practice today, I would say the whole coaching staff needs to go. Bucky himself should be throwing down in practice today.
Sometimes it works to have Iron Mike Keenen come in for one or two seasons. Scare the bejaysus out of a few young guys and then bring in a tactician after he messes up their minds. lol |

Dubnyks on thin ice? If we werent already feeling down and out on this road trip how about the 2nd goal he let in. They scored from befor center ice. |

So instead of sucking for the next 5 yrs until our core is ready to dominate. Why dont we trade some young players to get competitive. I totally agree that nuge hall and eberle plus shultz are not going but what about yakupov he must have some value right. That would be a start at least we would know Tambellini is still alive right. Must be nice to get paid to do nothing!!! |

Everyone knows they are soft. As I said, Horcs will help this team when he gets back. Hopefully Fistric will be back soon to. |
