Of course not. Scott Stevens and Lindros never did either. Half of their big hits would be lengthy suspensions by today's rules.

Hmm was thinking and as much as I hate him.. what about brendan morrow? He might be the type of guy we need on the second or third line. What would the asking price be?

Some genius proposed giving up Hall and 2nd for him in a previous thread.

I wouldn't mind him but wouldn't give up much for him. Even Hemsky would be an overpayment imo. Too old, too beat up and too douche.

The Oilers aren't talking about untouchables!!!!!

If you can't tell the difference between a hockey team and a uninformed blogger perhaps you should consider doing the world a favor and give yourself a lobotomy with a rusty railroad spike.

- Reveen

They talk about "untouchables" all the time. Ask the Oilers & they'll tell you who they're not moving for anyone - what planet have you been living on for the last 2yrs.

Your move Katz. What matters more? The current state of the team or a boyhood idol?

I saw someone suggest earlier firing Lowebellini and Krueger and bringing in Burke and Ruff. While this sort of move scares me to death I'm at the point where I say, "Why the (frank) not?" This team has the talent that they absolutely should be doing better than this. Even last year, as bad as they finished, I left the season thinking pretty positively and looking forward to this year. Now...they've taken no steps forward and actually regressed. It's incomprehensible.

- sanfordnson

I actually think burke would be good for this team. You guys have a ton of assets and burke has the balls to actually do something, not to mention he has a great track record for trades. (Kessel trade was an exception, but was due the fact we were supposed to challenge for a playoff spot that year, then just tanked)

The save % for both Schneider and Dubnyk. One has a deep defense corp in front of him the other has a rag tag group.

- OilHorse

You can take those stats and throw them out the windown. GM's look for winners & Dubynk hasn't proven anything yet.

Yes his defense is horrible in front of him but he needs to have consistency and he's not a #1 goalie - period!!!

yeah I've totally heard them talk about untouchables all the time every single interview. When you draft a highly touted young player at 1st overall you don't trade him at least for a few years. It's not (frank)ing rocket science.

Anyone beyond that being referred to as untouchable is only referred to as that by bloggers and fans. Challenge you to prove me wrong.

I wouldnt want Burke. Too much blowhard.

I think the Oil missed their opportunity with John Davidson. Lowe should've been out to bring JD in.

Was said about Thomas for years. He was an afterthought. Look at what emery has done this year. There's little rhyme or reason to goalies. Mason won the Calder and look at him now.

I think Duby is good enough. When you see a lot of the goals against are on 2nd, 3rd, 4th shots in a flurry then its not his fault. We still need a top 2 shutdown guy and another top 4 puck mover. I honestly thought Whitney would regain his form and be the big puck mover again, but he's not. Smid is not the shut down guy that some think. He's a 4 maybe 5/6 D man. If someone is going to over pay for him. Move him.

It doesn't matter how many top 5 picks or 1st overall picks you had, if these players can me moved & i'm not saying all of them, i'm saying move 2 of them for power forwards which this team needs. All skill doesn't win you anything & the only way you're bringing in power forwards with skill is to part with value & that means moving the so-called list of 6 untouchables the Oilers always talk about.

No draft picks are needed for the young skilled forwards but no other GM is giving you a skilled power forward for garabage either. It's a 2-way street!!!

But he's not a #1 goalie - yet. Maybe he can be in the future but he sure the hell isn't close right now & no other GM around the league views him as a #1 either. He's a good backup that can play 25 games a season right now.

Exactly and when Schneider won the Vezina and that Stanley Cup he proved himself.... . Dubnyk and Schneider have both proven the same thing, nothing!
