really? This is your reasoning?
- Muskoka88

With solid Reasoning like "he's from the area" it would obviously proclude him from playing in Ottawa, Buffalo, Detroit, etc... as they are all SOOO far away from TO
Meanwhile he had no problem playing on the west coast for years...

Well thats what I mean, I'd definitely part with Phaneuf, Kessel, Reimer, Kadri for Doughty, Brown, Bernier, Kopitar. Would most likely take more on the Leafs part though to complete the trade, perhaps prospects and or picks.

Would most likely take more on the Leafs part? You're talking about taking the core of the defending cup champions. And people thought the Luongo trade proposals from Canuck fans were lopsided!

The core?

Brown was being shopped last deadline.

Doughty is overpaid and underperforming, has been.

Bernier sits on the bench.

Kopitar took a backseat to Richards and Carter.

I wouldn't say it's their core.

Perry isn't a leader. he is a quiet guy, leaves it on the ice though which I like.

I would fix your 'true leader' for 'superstar'.

Anaheim can't trade Perry without getting something similar in production back. They also can't risk losing him for nothing, so a trade with a Kessel type player is what they need. Not saying Kessel himself, just any deal they do has to include a player with at least Kessel's scoring prowess coming back. Can't go on a cup run missing your best winger, but you also can't lose him for nothing this summer, tough spot for Anaheim. It will be interesting to see what they do.

But a Kessel with term and something else for a Perry who could potentially walk in the summer would be a big overpayment for the Leafs as well.

Maybe Anaheim can find a rental in the deal that can fill a bit of the scoring in the short term but also receive a big package of prospects.

Nashville and Jersey I'm sure wish they got SOMETHING for their boys last year.

Anaheim will resign Perry, they can afford it, not sure why others are acting as if its doomsday for the Ducks and they must choose one over the other. Selanne will be off the books next season, so will Koivu. Plenty of cap space, if anything they'd deal Bobby Ryan first, given his displeasure and previous request for a trade.

LMFAO the Ducks are paying him 8.25!!!!!!!!

good luck with that, i get that he's a great big elite center, but yougave him Stamkos money (offensive performance wise) good luck with that, he puts up this kind of offense every 4 years average...even if he still puts up 60 pts otherwise its still too much imo

at least we know for sure they arent signing Perry now

Yes....their core.

Did you see Brown, Kopitar or Doughty play in the playoffs last year?

Who cares if Doughty has taken some time to get up to speed this year, you can't discount how good he was in the playoffs. He was clutch.

Kopitar is one of the best 2 way players in the game. Averaged a point a game in the playoffs last year and was a better player (and still is) than Carter and Richards. He's leading the team in points again this year. He's a +7 while Richards is a -6

Brown was a beast in the playoffs last year. Hitting everyone in sight and averaged a point a game as well.

That trade isn't even close.
