Lidstrom is not that far removed...but Hasek? Seriously? The guy is a (frank)ing dinosaur. - glove_was_stuck
I agreed with you but I just looked it up. He is 48 and has been playing this whole time. More than that, he has been dominating this whole time in Europe. He is still on fire. He was suppose to start this season with Tampa, Detroit or Buffalo but it suggests he didn't due to the lockout. (This is from his wiki page and the source is Czech sport website Deniksport). He played KHL last year and the year before the Czech title posting 3 SO, 12 consecutive wins and only 1 loss in the playoffs alone. That was age 46 for him.
Doesn't sound like too much of a stretch now. Can't be worse than Howard. Now if they can talk Niedermayer out as well the team will have all the old players that can still play. Unless Yzerman can still skate. Every good team needs a heart and soul forward with good hands. |

Ken Holland is talking with Lidstrom and Hasek about coming back for one last playoff. Add in a trade with Dallas for Whitney and Jagr and the Wings will be Scary!! - Jimmy_wiener
He better go after Recchi then. Team could use a Dr on the ice with those veterans !!!!! |

Very rarely do i make mock trades as there is way too many factors to create a realistic trade that meets both teams cap goals and such.. But what the hell
To Toronto: Ryan Getzlaf Likely re-upp'd to 8 million cap hit in offseason or after trade
To Anaheim: Mikhail Grabovski (5.5) + 2014 1st round pick + one of Matt finn or Stuart percy.
that's a solid return imo if you're anahiem and could lose a player for nothing.. restocks the cupboards while getting a player in grabo to remain competative today during the playoff push.
Ducks are in a unique situation.. players like selanne and koivu having great years near the end of their career. and their top 2 forwards turning UFA.
do they hold onto all their players for 1 cup run and risk losing a ton of potential building blocks for the future? Their GM is in a tough spot!! - manifest30
Don't think that is enough. I know is a UFA but Anaheim wants him back or will demand the moon

Could have sworn I just read that Perry was the one who wanted to test FA, and Getzlaf was more likely to re-sign with ANA? |

I think your right. I think this is based more on what Anahiem wants at this point. I don't know if they can get a contract with either in reality. |

.... seriously, Bozak is the only position we have that needs an upgrade. He plays the #1 hole in TO. Only in TO would someone of his size be playing #1 Centre. That's why Grabo does not get moved, with his new contract and we have him and Kadri as #2 or #3 doesn't matter. Bozak gets packaged so we get more size and skill on the top six. That is a more likely scenario. I like Bozie but c'mon he's no #1 and he's scared to carrry the puck, he's great trade bait and we can afford to let him go in the right deal. Send Gunnar and Kuli with him for sweeteners |

I think the big thing with this rumor board is large market teams are shown to be going after the big name guys and smaller market teams the smaller market. Then there is the odd rumor but I think a lot of these don't make much sense. I know from an Oilers perspective, signing 38 year old Nabokov wouldn't solve any problems in net. Habby at 40 is playing just as good and he would sign cheaper. Plus the Oilers know something about Habby that most teams don't, the guy is one of the most physically fit players in the game. He has years left in him.
The Oilers do need a new goalie but it has to be one with more talent than the two. A top 15 goalie or one that can develop into one. Same goes for Prospal in Columbus. Edmonton doesn't need a 38 year old winger. Prospal would be 4th line in terms of talent. That side has Hall, Yakupov and then Hartkinen. Oilers love Hartkinen as he is a true power forward and hasn't begun to tap his potential. Plus they have too many 4th line guys to bring in an older guy. He would be bumping someone like Brown who they just picked up. Edmonton would have to dump a bunch of contracts to make this work.
If it was a center, I would say maybe but there is no way there is a rumor about these two unless it is NYI/Colubus calling Edmonton hoping to trade bad contracts. |

or they resign one of them, make alot of money in their cup run, lose one of the free agents probably still be decent anyways because their cupboards arent anywhere near as empty as leafs fans would have you believe
they could jus sign Weiss as temp replacement if Getz leaves this summer
but with players like Palmieri, Devante S-P, Etem, Holland etc...all coming in (or already in) its not as bad as some might have you think |

Assuming Philly gave a second for Prospal at one point I would expect Nonis to do the same , or fork over Tyler Biggs or Ashton Carter - Alexzanki
Leafs will NOT trade for Prospal...where is he gonna play? Top9 wingers are Kessel, JVR, Lupul (when back), Frattin (when back), Kuli, and MacArthur...who's spot is he gonna take? Don't get me wrong, I like Prospal, I just don't see a fit...
I can't see Nonis doing anything major unless a guy like Getz is in play...
Grabs or Bozak, Blacker or Finn or Percy, Colborne or Ashton, 2014 1st for Getzlaf...that enough to get it done? Or at least have Anaheim start listening? Would love to get Palmieri from Anaheim too... |

Thats what all the real hockey insiders are saying and have been saying for weeks..Considering that a top center like Getz is very rare to come by its in their best intrest to try and keep him and let perry go.. |

Perry is more likely to walk than getzlaf. Getzlaf's wife is from Orange County and the family doesn't want to leave. It's obvious that perry wants to test free agency so it's up to Murray to figure it out. I say they're more likely to keep him through the playoffs.
And to all you leafs fans.. Chump change and a first would never get you perry. Sorry not sorry |

8 million for getzlaf?????
I guess if Phaneuf is worth 7, Grabovski 5.5 and Lupul 5.25... then yah, Getzlaf is worth 8. - Scooby_Doo
I think 8 million is roughly what he'll command as a UFA. These top line centers just don't come around very often. Sure his point production has been declining prior to this season but look what Brad Richards got.
I said move grabo because i think Getz, Kadri, Bozak, McClement would look pretty solid down the middle
Lupul Getzlaf Kessel
Frattin/JVR Kadri Macarthur
JVR/Frattin Bozak Kulemin
Komorov McClement Orr/McLaren
I think that would be pretty solid down the middle if they could get Kadri and Bozak to take 3.5 million each
