Yeah, I agree. I think to not consider it as a shot is plain stupid.
- Orpik44

Well, it raises a problem if you count it as a shot on goal. Since the goalie didn't stop it, it doesn't count as a save. It also didn't go in, so it doesn't count as a goal. So you'd have more SOG than saves+goals. That's why a shot on goal is the term, it's a shot that would be a goal were the goalie unable to stop it. A shot that hits a pipe, obviously, beats the goalie, but would not be a goal (unless it deflects into the net). It would be a nice little side stat to keep though.

back to hockey...

WAYYYY to much. Now the ducks just hog tied themselves to giving Perry that much
- drummer829

I agree... but Perry is probably going to demand more. They could have Crosby/Malkin money tied up in two forwards who are good, but not Crosby & Malkin.

But they do have Teemu and Koivu money coming off the cap, and if Fasth makes a Hiller move possible, their goaltending will be cheap for a few years.

The knock on him is that he's slow at this point of his carreer....but it would be awessome to see him do this to Giroux and Hartnell

I like(d) Regehr... Gunner says he looks bad in Buffalo though. Maybe a move to the Pens would rejuvenate him. Or, we'd end up with a stiff. Good news is, that he probably wouldn't cost more than a draft pick.

My guess is they paid a little bit more than they wanted for Getzlaf to get him signed so that they can 1) Show Perry they are serious about winning 2) concentrate solely on getting him signed or dealt by the deadline. An extra million/year to Getzlaf to reduce their headache immediately by half is worth it for a team with cap space to spend.

rival, I guess they did the right thing. They probably would lose him for this kind of money. He's a keeper and a good C in this league. In "real world" he deserves $7M at most.
