There is something about Ottawa that I think they still make it in despite the injuries. TB I think is done. - Oneonta Penguin
If they sneak in and we match up with them in,, say, the 2-7 matchup. That would be an emotional and crazy series given the circumstances they had this year.
I propose that a Flyers fan can call Sid, Cindy with out warning as long as we are allowed to counter with Fraude Giroux. If not, then yes it is trolling. |

Do you think he's a better defenseman than E. Karlsson? Is he more important to the team that E. Karlsson is/was to Ottawa? - jmatchett
Erik Karlsson is one of the most dynamic offensive players in the league. Still learning his craft defensively, but he is certainly not a liability.
Letang is one of the most dynamic skaters in the entire league. He has offensive ability but is misguided in his decision making at times. Letang is physical and not afraid to use his body, you can't coach that, but it does get him into trouble when he over commits. Fortunately his dynamic skating can help him recover way faster than most.
I dont think they are similar players to be honest. They do share some traits but the mentiality of each player is different. Karlsson will never match Letang's physicality, and Letang will never match Karlsson's decision making process. tough to compare.
Both are terrific players. |

knowing Shero it will be 6.58 |

I only ask because, coming right off of his ELC, after a big breakout year (going from 45 to 78 points), E. Karlsson got 7 years at $6.5M. Letang is coming into his 3rd contract. He doesn't have the offensive stats, but he plays a much more well-rounded game, is trusted to play big minutes in all situations, blocks a ton, and can throw the body. I think Karlsson will be his measuring stick, pointing out Karlsson had 1 breakout season and it was only his 2nd contract. I just have a feeling he may want more. |

Fortunately, the Pens have loaded up with possible replacements in their prospect pool. Joe Morrow being the closest. I think Letang is instrumental to the team, but they can only pay him so much. One thing about Ray Shero... He believes puck moving defensmen are some of the most valuable assets in the NHL. |

Well the wild screwed over every GM by signing Suter to his ridiculous contract. Also remember Pietrangelo is getting a new contract. I think his will more likely be the measuring stick for Letang |

IMO, we already have Letang's replacement if he bolts or gets dealt. His name is Despres.

the Flames/Avalanche have also screwed the salary prices of players with this Ryan O'Reilly thing as well. Owners and GMs were female doging up a storm during the lockout on term and moeny, even though they were the ones that set the standard. Now, you have this ridiculous contract for a young guy that only had one good, not great season.

I am pretty sure Ray will be looking for some sort of defensive asset if it works for the team. I do think we could use a little more size up front on the third line. I was thinking Peter Mueller from Florida might work. |

I'm not a hockey player but love the sport. I've been a fan since Kaparitis was with the team. That being said I got a question I don't understand about shots on goal. Yesterday Vorachek (spell check) shot a slap shot an hit the cross bar early in the first, why was that not considered a shot? According to Steigy it wasn't? |

I just read this, and thought I'd share.
I can't stand basketball, but Bruce Arthur tweeted this story about Kobe Bryant and his unhuman work ethic:

From everything you hear about Crosby, he seems to have a similar level of drive to be the best. People are just wired differently... |

For it to register as a shot, it has to be a shot on goal (one that would go in). |

WOW...a lot of money...I thought he was worth around $7M.
But anyway, good for Anaheim. They kept their center |

No, it hit the pipe, so by definition, it can't go in. 2 inches lower, it goes in (and is considered a shot on goal). |

Yeah... makes Crosby's deal look even better.
I wonder what Malkin's cap hit is going to be. He can't get the 12 years Sid did help lower the cap hit, so it might a little higher than $8.7 |

Geno is such a team first. I really doubt he'll take more than Crosby. Shero will have to promise him he'll extend him for this same amount for at least 4 years more |

Exactly Who's double R? Robyn Regehr? I would like to have him on this team if we can't get Smid only. |
