Whatever you say there master chief. I happen to enjoy what barley brings to the discussion. Quite frankly, you all hating on him is pretty annoying. If he was in here I'm sure he'd tell you where to shove that plasma grenade - Killian
First of all, congrats to Pens last night. Can't believe the Flyers just folded (you should never lose a 3-goal lead to your top rival at home), but hats off to the Pens for making it happen.
Also, I think part of the reason he got banned, at least yesterday, was because there was some good, non-animosity-driven talk between both Flyers and Pens fans. He came in with his "You know what would suck" comment trying to do nothing more than stir the pot. He came into a very civil discussion just to try to get people to get all riled up. That's basically the definition of trolling, and that's why he got banned. |

Take it with a grain of salt, but Ek said that he is likely to test FA so some teams may want to acquire his rights to try to negotiate early....Basically what Shero did with Hamhuis - Rawdog9755
That makes much more sense. Once the season is over no players are on IR if I am correct. The Flyers have had to reissue Pronger's IR status every year I believe at the beginning of the season. |

Doesn't matter. They can't afford to let an MVP caliber talent leave for nothing. Perry apparently has been sending signals that he will be testing the market. - Gunner Staal
I guess we'll disagree on that one. It'd be brutal to for Anaheim to lose him for nothing, but when you have a legit shot at the Cup I feel like you have to take it. |

Good point with Pronger....I forgot about them having to deal with bringing him on and off IR in the offseason. I guess the reason I thought Weiss couldnt be traded is because trades involve each player passing a physical, and an injured player cant pass a physical. |

Unless a player is completely "in love" with an organization, I don't know why any player with a few months left on his current deal would re-sign with that club (Unless, they make a truly absurd offer of course.) I sort of feel bad for the ducks because the lockout/CBA really hindered their ability to negotiate long term deals for those guys.
Rest assured, if Shero can't lock up Geno or Letang, they'll be moved before next years camp. |

Geno is a non issue. Shero will give him what he wants. Letang is the wild card. |

Orpik has been absolutely horrendous, let him walk after next year - ernmerica
Yeah, I agree... I had high hopes this year because he was 100% healthy coming in to it, but he's had some bad games.
He's 32 now, so he will be 34 when the season starts in his next deal. Depending on what happens between now and then, I'd be ok bringing him back at a much lower price and at a reduced role.

Geno will most likely sign the same contract that Sid did (which is just fine with me).
Letang will demand more money because as of right now he is the front runner for the Norris. Also, he will have to make more than Paul Martin so I see him requesting somewhere in the 6-6.5 million range (which shouldn't be an issue considering what Shero was offering Suter) |

John Toperzer: Pens Friday: Simon Despres for Devin Setoguchi?
Big win Thursday leaves Pittsburgh with a 16-8 mark midway through the 2013-2013 season - the-mitch-wilsons
i didnt even bother reading the blog
i mean you're telling me a team with more than enough offensive prowess is going to trade one of their only good young 2 way D (more shutdown) for more offense?

With Letang, you pretty much have to hope he takes less than market value to stay here. If he goes UFA, he'll get offers at least in the $7.5 mil range from some desperate team.
He has to want to stay here enough to sign for like $1 - $1.5 mil less than market value. |

Honestly, I don't think Letang wants to leave Pittsburgh. He has to know how much playing with Crosby & Malkin makes him better and that being on a competitive team is a huge positive. Shero won't low-ball him; I think it'll be fine. |

Shero might give him the same offer that he gave Staal. That is what I would do (8 years obviously he can't go 10)
I think that is pretty fair for both sides. |

I think if an outside team (Tampa Bay, Washington, Philly) gets in, it will because Ottawa drops out. One would have to think the injuries are too much. |

As long as Ottawa keeps afloat I think Spezza will return at the very end of the regular season. Might be enough for them to slide in. |

I think Staal was offered 6 x 10? I think Letang will be offered....maybe 6.5 - 6.75 x 8.

Unless you're doing it in good humor, yes. If you're doing it tongue-in-cheek, as in making fun of people who call him that in a derogatory way, then that's okay. But if you're doing it just to antagonize people, especially without bringing anything else to the table, then yes, that is trolling. |

Do you think he's a better defenseman than E. Karlsson? Is he more important to the team that E. Karlsson is/was to Ottawa? |

Lately though, Ottawa hasn't been. They've been on the wrong side of one-goal games. But I guess they shouldn't be ruled out. Just look at what Bylsma did without Sid and Geno. |
