Haha. I completely understand, but I think i'll dwell on last night's W for a while longer...
Also, w/ the play of Bennett I think they Pens should focus more on a 3rd-liner or big, physical Dman than any more scoring. Top-6 looks good right now. - s0rcerer1984
While I may tend to agree with you in theory - absent Neal and Kunitz, your next three wingers are a 34 year old Matt Cooke who is a UFA after this season; a 33-year old Dupuis who is a UFA after this season and Bennett, who is only nine games into his NHL career. If Cooke and Dupes left, then you have huge holes in the lineup. Not saying they will leave as they could easily be resigned - especially Cooke since he might not get too much interest base don his history. Dupes probably resigns for a little less, if not the same.
Yes, we need a third line guy (like a Clutterbuck type) and a physical Dman (a younger Brooks Orpik type). I don't disagree. We have three needs as I see it.

I'm not saying the Pens should turn down a trade for a young Top-6 W if the right one comes along (ie, Goligoski for Neal/Niskanen), but I certainly don't think Shero should go into the trade deadline looking to upgrade the Pens Top-6 F's as a priority. Look for something in the offseason, whether by trade or by UFA signing.
Also, I feel like its a pretty safe bet Dupuis re-signs with the Pens. Probably for a bit more than he's getting right now (2yrs @ $2.5M/yr maybe), but I sincerely doubt any GM in the NHL is looking at him and saying "We should toally sign Pascal Dupuis. He'd be just as great when he isn't playing with Sidney Crosby." |

Just playing devil's advocate, but with adding a legit top 6 winger, would shift Dupuis to the third line and drastically improve that line.
That being said, I am in agreement with adding a gritty third liner as more important (and a lot cheaper). A big physical d-man would be nice, but they are harder to come by, and most teams are looking for one. Nicklas Grossmann to Philly for a couple of picks has to be one of the most underrated deals in the league last season. |

Rather than make excuses, why not phrase it like this: If nbartley wasnt a jerk yesterday then he could of made 100 comments already. His fault, nobody elses. |

To be quite honest, I felt like his posts were anti-flyer and weren't really offensive in any way |

Honestly, I wouldn't mess with the 1st (Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis) or 2nd (Bennett-Malkin-Neal) lines right now now. Crosby is averaging +1.6pts/gm w/ more than a few 2pt & 3pt games in the recent past. Maybe Dupuis isn't our dream W for Crosby, but neither was Robbie Brown for Mario. Somestime its just works.
And looking over the 2013 UFA list there is only 1 W where i'd say 'Yeah, but it XXXXX! You have to snap him up if you get the chance!," like with Hossa. That's Corey Perry & given how well Anaheim is doing, he isn't going anywhere.
Give me grity 3rd-liner and i'll be happy. Some physical D would be nice too. |

Could watch this over and over. Sid versus 3 Flyers, starting out on his stomach with no stick, and ends up eventually moving the puck to Dupuis.

I actually think he will be moved. If he isn't signed he will be traded before the deadline. |

Whatever you say there master chief. I happen to enjoy what barley brings to the discussion. Quite frankly, you all hating on him is pretty annoying. If he was in here I'm sure he'd tell you where to shove that plasma grenade |

I see what you are saying, but I don't think Anaheim is exactly in the 'Jay Bouwmeester Situation.'
As of right now they are in 1st place in the Pacific at 16-3-3, 2nd over all in the West by a comfortable margin. They aren't fighting for the the 7/8th spot like FLA was to just make the Playoffs. The Ducks have a legit shot at the Cup; You can't trade your 2nd leading scorer as a UFA in that situation. |

And no, I am not Bartley. I'm sure the fun police would be all over that if I was. We are all Pens fans in here, and we are all entitled to our own opinions. There's no reason to hate on each other. If you don't like what he says, then ignore him |

I was thinking that yesterday....or at the very least they are buddies outside of here. No coincidence that within minutes of Nbart getting banned, Killian was back in the fray singing him praises and attempting to get under Canadian's skin.
Hockey related: Did you see in Ek's new blog he discussed Weiss still being targeted by some teams? Is it possible to trade the rights for an injured player? For some reason I thought you couldnt trade players on IR. |

Doesn't matter. They can't afford to let an MVP caliber talent leave for nothing. Perry apparently has been sending signals that he will be testing the market. |

Not really sure about how that works off hand but I am also not sure why teams would go that route. |

Take it with a grain of salt, but Ek said that he is likely to test FA so some teams may want to acquire his rights to try to negotiate early....Basically what Shero did with Hamhuis |
