If this is accurate, the Ducks will try to sign Perry and if they can't he will be in Toronto by the deadline.
- paulr

Why would they do that? Isn't exactly like they're floundering.

If Perry is moved, it'll be on draft day.

Where do you think they'd get more in return? They have some leverage now they'll have allot less on draft day.

If Getzlaf is staying, I'll bet Perry is doing the same, and I'd bet Perry's extension should be done soon.
- EKolb13

All depends on how Murray is going to handle/replace Koivu/Selanne. Combined cap hit between those two guys is $8.3M and the overall cap goes down $5.9M next season. Plus they only have 15 players signed for next season.

Don't know. Depends on how much they value a run at the cup this year.

I've asked the question here and elsewhere and have never received a satisfying answer...

Why did Steve Larmer hold out and force a trade, thereby ending his Iron Man streak of 884 games (11 straight seasons) ? WHY ?

My theory, total speculation, is that Gramps was a 'Keenan guy' and when Darryl Sutter came in as coach, he and Larmer didn't mesh well, despite the fact they were teammates for many years prior.

I'm hoping someone, anyone can please shed some plausible light on what is to me...thee eternal mystery.

- philco28

If the obvious is so you have your answer

Larmer never gave a reason, unless the one about being tired of fighting Cgo traffic counts.

I don't recall what his contract status was...But Larmer wasn't top banana here and didn't make a ton of dough.

Well, Anaheim will probably never be a team that spends to the cap. So the cap could be 100M and that still probably woudn't matter.

I agree, with Selanne and Koivu coming off the books, they could afford. But maybe, internally, the Ducks value Ryan and Getzlaf more than they do Perry (not saying I agree) and they may feel that Perry would rather play in Canada. So they may offer him the same deal as Getzlaf and if he turns it down, then it may make more sense to move him.

I think Kessel is a turd, but he just over $5M for a few more seasons, which is where Perry's cap hit resides presently. I don't think that's a value trade, but in Anaheim's world, it may make sense.

And was a possible 'Hawks TDL acquisition.

Does that hasten the move of Brassard even quicker now?

If Perry wants to stay he will sign soon....Word going around is he will likely test free agency.

I wrote a comment early this AM saying Getzlaf will be the one sticking around most likely....And Murray may be forced to deal Perry.

If so Perry will head East.

I agree. If they offer him the same $ and term and he says 'I'll get back with ya on this", I think they HAVE to move him. You know some moron GM (Feaster) will try to be cute and make a splash by signing him to $9M or something stupid

Why? As compared to making a serious run for the cup this season?

Think they'd get the pieces and financial flexibility, plus time to gel to even beat out the 'hawks to the final?

When will Selanne retire? What'll they do with Koivu? $8.3M cap hit between those two this year and they're also UFA's at seasons end.

Guess I don't see Perry moving (from a really good team) as easily as others do.

(this IS a trick question)

What do you think Saad will want when his deal is up? What do you think his market value will be?

There is no putting a price on winning a Cup....But the storm there has been brewing for quite awhile.

They will have a ton of dough tied up in 3 players if Perry resigns...Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't.

Word I have heard is onwnership situation is different than with Nashville last season.

I agree if you can win a Cup win a Cup but internally they may have already have their map for the future.

I thought Ryan would go last summer and then they would pay up to keep Perry....But with the lockout....

If you are looking a numbers and age Perry is the top tick UFA this summer. I think he knows the same so there probably won't be a home town discount.

If the sides can't agree now Murray may think they have little chance of signing later.....Teams in the East would pay steeply for Perry.

I could see teams in the east, particulary Toronto moving assets for the opportunity to sign Perry. Kinda like the Hawks were this year with Suter and Parise. If either one had agreed to sign w/Chicago, you know damn well Stan and Co would've found a way to make it work

Ummm, I was the one asking the question.

He'll probably get more than that just through inflation. Beyond that, no one knows.

I'll go on record right now and say that is a GOD AWFUL deal for Anaheim. Horrible. Guy is no where close to being paid that much. God bless Getzlaf's agent.

We'll see just how good of a capologist Stanley is, as the wonder twins will want a minimum of 8.5 for max term. Have a LOT of key guys coming up in free agency here, as well as RFAs.

Maybe Haugh and moronic TAB should have held off their love for Stanley.
