I almost bought one from them last year after the guys at Triple Threat Sports referred me to them. They didn't have the size I needed and ended up buying one from Gunzo's.

Awesome sports store! Every Chicago jersey you could imagine. Cubs, Sox, Bulls, Bears, and Hawks. Any major player you can think of they have. Plus some Mitchell and Ness old school stuff, which I love.

I have a couple brief comments. 1) I'd almost like the Hawks to acquire Mike Smith so they could take runs at him during practice. 2) Nik Antropov...yuck. I think if the Hawks agreed to get him, that Winnipeg should throw in the 2nd/3rd rounders StanBo sent them last year. That guy is about as interested in hockey as I am hearing about my girlfriend's day at work. (hint...not very)

BTW, when you guys buy me a sweater, I don't want any of those Chinese knockoffs with the funky numbers (that comprise about 50% or more of the sweaters you see at the UC now)

"@RyanDadoun

After that loss to the Caps, the Florida Panthers have a minus-30 goal differential. The next worst is CBJ with minus-15."

Not to change the subject but Dale Tallon was all the rave for many dating back to last year while StanBo could not doing anything right. He was considered to be riding success on the coattails of Tallon's acquisitions/drafts. My how things have changed in one year. I was admittedly skeptical last year of SB after two years falling short of expectations but that may have been premature.

Ive been waiting to bring this up because of all the happy going on here. But look at Tallon's team. Brutal. But I would wait until he has 5 years in the organization to build it up . Tallon made some great deals here in Chicago , but I think Bowman needs to start getting some serious credit.

A lot of you underappreciate how diffucult the sell off after 2010 was. The Hawks had ZERO leverage that summer.

Tallon had about 30M in salary cap space to fix Florida, a first round playoff last and last place currently , not too much to be happy about.

I have seen a few of those Chinese knockoffs that look like the Indian has food poisoning, looks so pale!

THANK YOU. Those are garbage and a disgrace to the best logo in sports. People are so stupid. You can't get an "authentic" for 50 dollars...but it has a fighting strap!...nope, still a piece of crap. Anyone in China can easily sew one on

One of the things working against Tallon though is that after he acquired some serious talent in trades, I'm sure opposing GMs have become leery of giving Tallon the younger talent he requests from another team. IOW, if that team is down on a player and Tallon is high on him, given Tallon's eye for talent, that team might not be willing to make that deal. Sometimes success can work against your ability to recreate a winning formula elsewhere.

Since were on the topic of jerseys City Sports Lettering in Oak Lawn does a phenomenal job. Their website kind of blows but they actually sew every jersey that you see a Hawks player wearing. Every jersey in the Blackhawks Store is done by them as well. They do a top notch job. I've taken many jerseys there and have been extremely happy every time.

Craig Custance of ESPN: Custance put together a list of the top 20 rental players that could be available at this year’s trade deadline or before.

“You can’t let players walk,” said one NHL source. “If you’re going to lose players, you have to get something.”

1. Corey Perry – $5.3 million. Asking price could be a roster player, 1st round pick and a good prospect.

2. Daniel Alfredsson – $4.9 million. Asking price could be a 1st round pick, B-level prospect and conditional draft pick based on playoff success.

3. David Clarkson – $2.7 million. Asking price could be a 1st round pick and a prospect. Source added, ”You only try to do that if you think you can re-sign him.“

4. Jarome Iginla – $7 million with a no-movement clause. Asking price could be a Grade A prospect and a 2nd round that becomes a 1st if the team wins the cup.

5. Mike Ribeiro – $5 million with a no-trade clause. Asking price could be a 1st round pick and a B-level prospect.

6. Mike Smith – $2 million. Asking price could be a 1st round pick and a prospect.

7. Mark Streit – $4.1 million. Asking price could be a A-level prospect and a 2nd round pick.

8. Jaromir Jagr – $4.6 million. Asking price could be a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

9. Lubomir Visnovsky – $5.6 million. Asking price could be a 2nd round pick.

10. Clarke MacArthur – $3.3 million. Asking price could be a 2nd round pick and good prospect.

11. Dustin Penner – $3.3 million. Asking price could be a 2nd round pick.

12. Brenden Morrow – $4.1 million with a no-trade clause. Asking price could be a B-level prospect plus a conditional pick based on playoff success.

13. Sergei Gonchar – $5.5 million with a no-movement clause. Asking price could be a 2nd round pick, or more if multiple teams are interested.

14. Milan Hejduk – $2 million with a no-movement clause. Asking price could be a 3rd round pick.

15. Steve Sullivan – $2.6 million. Asking price could be a conditional 2nd round pick.

16. Ian White – $2.9 million. Asking price could be a 2nd round pick.

17. Nate Thompson – $900,000. Asking price could be a 2nd round pick.

18. Stephen Weiss – $3.1 million with a no-movement clause. Asking price could be a 3rd round pick that becomes a 2nd if team re-signs him. Would give the team more time to re-sign him.

19. Robyn Regehr – $4 million with a no-movement clause. Asking price could be a B-level prospect plus a 4th round draft pick.

20. Nik Antropov – $4 million with a modified no-trade clause. Asking price could be a 3rd round pick.

Interesting. Seems like this guy thinks most of these guys will go for picks or prospects. Anyone else see a flaw here?

Does Chris Neil at 33 at 1.9 for three years after this one make any sense aside from "win now"?

Like the player. Think he would help today but does he fit in after this year?

Tab brought up Alfredsson. Aside from Sharp being out not sure where exactly he fits in or how much is left in the tank.

Neither help the center situation. Sharp being out complicates that even more. The OHL is done in what the next month? Less than that? Joking with my roommate on the over/under on Danault getting a look at the end of the year?

edit: Quebec league I mean

- fattybeef

I think this does make sense beyond a win now perspective. Mayers is about done, and for small cap increase, Neil provides an upgrade because he can play 3rd line minutes if necessary, and/or improve the 4th line. He'd be an upgrade on either line. Whether Neil, or someone else, a guy like that is probably the easiest way to upgrade the team without messing up chemistry.

I wonder how much of Tallon's success was due to Rick Dudley?

Not really, because for the most part the acquiring team is assuming great risk in adding guys who better than 50 50 leave after the season is done.

The hope of the seller is that they find a buyer who really...REALLY wants a certain guy and may pay a premium. Thus the game of poker that goes on.

You know, I sort of posted that as a joke (the Saad part, anyway), but I am happy to throw twenty bucks in the kitty to buy JJ a sweater.

But instead of just "SAAD" on the back, we can make it like that NHL Custom Shop commercial. You know the one that has 'JImmy Loves' "The Oilers'...or the 'Peg 'We're back" jersey.

Instead we put "SAAD LOVER"...or "SAAD HYPE MACHINE"

Well if you want to bash Tallon, I suggest you get them in this year. Yeah, it isn't pretty in Florida. But Hrubedeau might win the Calder this year. Howden and Bjugsted are on their way. Markstrom and Gudbrandson are suffering right now, but they have high end talent. And if this one year of futility nets them Seth jones or Nate McKinnon... well in a couple years he'll be right where he was in 2009 with the Hawks.
