We're in agreement on this! Who cares if he punched some guy in the face or not. They play aggressive, they play fast, they are hard to play against (says everyone they play). Add a lower line player that can win faceoffs and take your chances in the real season - rollpards19
Can't argue that. I can't explain the streak. But we all agree they do have a big weakness in playing tough. I really do liike how agressive they are with their speed and trying to score. But they have plenty of chances each game to hit the other team's D and wear them out even more. I'm sure there are plenty of times in every game that everyone here yells out to hit someone |

Don't care about the loss. Hawks could lose 10 in a row and still have home ice. I really care about the liberties the Hawks take when guys like Bollig are in the line up. Rockford has about 4 guys in the line up that are more useful if Bollig isn't out there to take an eye for an eye on the opposition. - mrpaulish
Ok man I do get your point. Understand your concern. Under other circumstances I would side with you more. But this is one game. This team has won because they have dictated games. They don't get dictated too. After all the nonsense the last few years, this team is playing with Poise and composure and has won a lot of games because of that.
One game does not make a trend. We will be back in town in a week and change. I would be shocked if you are not pleasantly surprised and pleased with how it goes.
Bickell and others can't lose their cool and assault guys. I am gonna draw on the positive of a better third period. |

you can talk and post about it all you want about trds....my question still stands....when do trd deadline actually make the difference between winning and losing playoff gmes.
They have weaknesses...helluva lot less of 'em than the rest of the league.... who they got now and the team they are will win or lose in the playoffs.... - bogiedoc
I dnt know.
Too many variables.
Who is available ?
Is there a start PWR FWD available for prospects picks ?
Is there a 55% center that is responsible defensively that can PK ?
I don't know.
Are either of those positions available for picks/prospects ?? I don't know.... |

Gotcha. To add insult to injury Bollig got pasted a couple times tonight on clean hits. I understand what you're saying though. This is a sample size of 1 and it was a crap effort overall. I'll worry if it becomes a trend.

Face offs: Kruger 1 and 6, Shaw 1 and 9, even Toews was below 50%.
You can't start PP, PK, or any other situation losing 2 out of 3 FOs like they did tonite. |

Ok, bogie, I hear ya and I see your point. But even before and during the streak, we have been talking about the hole at 2c. We have been talking about big, nasty power forwards. What I want is a CUP. Do you think we can get there without the things we all agree we need? |

Colorado played a very good, tenacious game. Foley and Eddie mentioned the 6 games in 9 nights thing...that would have something to do with the Hawks looking so flat. It looked over to me at 3-1...simply no push back. Altitude is a big contributor--especially if fatigue is already a factor. I play at 1500 ft higher elevation than Denver ... both take some getting used to. Tough for a tired team. Colorado played hard and took advantage of their conditions, just like the Hawks did in some of their wins. |

it took 25 gmes into the season for someone to finally light them up...still unreal...i am not counting them out in the third...but the schedule 6 gmes in 9 nites and altitude = very tough - bogiedoc
Just saw your post after i commented. We said much the same. I like the way you think... |

Dudes, the HAwks are 21-1-3 . This is awesome.
Just have a problem with our cup necessity players taking cheap shots with no retaliation. - mrpaulish
Especially when the game out of reach , little diffrent in a 1 goal game ... I think crawford shat the bed tonight , avs got a big lead and then went into cheapshot /physical mode , pretty good game plan |

I am hoping this is what they target; think more though guys in the bottom 6 variety. JJ was talking about Nate Thompson and TG about Matt Hendricks. Need to see them both play more but it's the body type they could use. Doubt COL would trade McGinn to us but he's a player I would like to see them go after; or someone like him. |

A Chris Neal is going to be the difference between the Hwks winning or losing the cup...give me a break...he as likely to cost you gmes with his brain farts!
I am not trying to be debbie downer on trd possibilities that could help. But again...the evidence is overwhelming no one player acquired at deadline with a month to go is going to be the difference: Wings 08, Pens 09, Hwks 10, Boston 11, Kings 12....tell me what trd pushed these teams toward the cup....NADA! They were grt teams and won with the players that got them there....did carter help the kings..yes...was he the difference...no...he sucked most of the time with them.

I am with you, but do you want to be the guy that loses his cool and takes away the chance to come back and win? It is a point that is up for debate, but I for one believe the team has their identity and has embraced who they are.
They will stay poised and and handle their business. My biggest concern for the team is the ability to consistently score on the Power play. That will mitigate the stupidity of other teams. Not getting sucked into trying to be who they are not.
Anyhow, have a good night. |

Not going to argue how important faceoffs are because they are, but how many are really won that cleanly? I know kruger lost that one cleanly that led to the avs 4th goal, but every player on the ice plays a role in a faceoff win, usually. I think it might be coaching the other players to know how to jump in and help the center |
