Ummm, I was the one asking the question.

He'll probably get more than that just through inflation. Beyond that, no one knows.

- John Jaeckel

My guess is if his next contract is not for more than $1.25 per year, he will most likely be eslewhere.

Would rather have a broken bone than separated shoulder IMO.

Yeah 4-6 weeks is 4-6 weeks and with platelet therapy and things like that it can be accelerated. Bones also heal stronger after they break. Joints are no bueno

- fattybeef

Shoulders are weird....Lots of moving parts so to speak.

Depends on what degree the seperation actually is...

The high wire act Bowman needs to walk over the next 8 months or so is not unlike 2010. The problem isn't quite as acute, but it is is similar in nature.

Expectations are sky high. Anything less than winning the West will be viewed as a disappointment.

So the first question he has to ask is are the expectations 100% achievable with this roster? Some of you, I'm sure, are sold. But to others, I think it is a valid and open question.

Cap going down, Kruger, Stalberg, Leddy, Emery and Bickell all due new contracts (and raises).

Buyouts? Who?

Performance bonuses, some of which in light of the streak and playoff expectations might be triggered. Kane wins the Hart, someone else wins the Smythe?

Good info. says the Hawks are working on extensions now with all their free agents (Bickell is supposedlty close). Stalberg is supposedly asking for more than they can afford.

Do you really want to let any of those guys go without compensation?

Do you use one (or even two) of them to acquire some asset(s) you feel could help in the playoffs?

- John Jaeckel

Out of the group of players you listed Bickell is most likely the easiest to extend.
Kruger is a RFA....Stalberg has a chance for a big contract elsehwere:UFA.

The most important to extend sooner than later is Leddy....

His next contract will fit into the wheelhouse of many teams....And the compensation will be tolerable so he is a prime offer sheet candidate.

Not too unlike Hammer was a few years ago.

Those end to end rushes, when he flies by half a team and isn't breathng hard do come across well to scouts even the ones watching on TV.

As for buyouts ....

Under new rules it will be Olecz if he can fully recover.
Next is Monty.

Olesz will earn more in salary next yr than his cap hit.....Yes-Tallon knew what he was doing on this one.

Excited to see the shuffled line up tonight. Prefer Car bomb over Bickell on that second line, but hey, maybe Q sees something that we dont. Just hate jeopardizing the chemistry with that third line. Any chance Shaw puts a licking on Stasny tonight?

Would rather see Bollig do it ... after a 3-goal 3rd period 'Hawks lead.

Does Chris Neil at 33 at 1.9 for three years after this one make any sense aside from "win now"?

Like the player. Think he would help today but does he fit in after this year?

Tab brought up Alfredsson. Aside from Sharp being out not sure where exactly he fits in or how much is left in the tank.

Neither help the center situation. Sharp being out complicates that even more. The OHL is done in what the next month? Less than that? Joking with my roommate on the over/under on Danault getting a look at the end of the year?

edit: Quebec league I mean

- fattybeef

Neil maybe 33 but I doubt there is a Guy in the league that's in better shape the Guy is a beast

congrats most GM's will continue to be as stupid after the lockout as they were before.....murray included
- bogiedoc

I thought there was a reason for the lockout...apparently I was wrong.

Perry will expect the same or more....should be an interesting trade deadline this year.

But the players are paying it: if the cap next year is what, $65MM, any ecxess over 50% of HRR is paid by the players - in other words, the players don't get more than 50% no matter what the cap is - that's just for individual teams.

If Getzlaf signed for $8.25MM cap hit, a good chunk of that will effectively be paid by every player in the league through a hit on the escrow they have.

If I'm Anaheim, I'd trade Perry to the highest bidder and restock my team with good young players/draft picks acquired in that trade if he is not going to sign a long term deal. I actually think the Ducks are in a good spot because they have a team that most likely will be in the playoffs this year anyways so while it will suck to get rid of CP they can get some good assets back and let someone else pay him $9 mil a year plus they're probably in the postseason anyways.

Personally I see Perry as a Flyer. They're not having a great year and they actually offered the most money last year for the Suter/Parise combo and offer sheeted Weber, I can see CP being their big splash.

If the obvious is so you have your answer

Larmer never gave a reason, unless the one about being tired of fighting Cgo traffic counts.

I don't recall what his contract status was...But Larmer wasn't top banana here and didn't make a ton of dough.

- Al

Don't think wanting to be top banana was EVER a concern for Gramps. FFS...they guy barely talked at all...but he was probably seeking a lucrative extension and money might have played a role.

I'd swap 13 and 67.

20-19-81
29-36-88
67-65-25
13-16-52

Anaheim will not trade Perry this year. They have a shot to win the Cup with their team as currently constructed. They have only lost 3 games in regulation, and one of their OT wins was against the Hawks.

It would be fanbase suicide for them to white flag this season, and I don't see any teams willing to part with enough in exchange to ANA for a guy who may well command an $8MM/yr salary. Except maybe for those few teams where success this year is not as important as success beginning next year.

You can pay your $200 bucks, I didn't get far enough into the blog to see all the bashing of the knockoff's. I payed around $150 for a Keith, Larmer, Baseball- Santo, Football- Marshall and Dent, and everyone loves their jerseys.. Seems like fine work to me!!!! I don't worry about the little stuff.. a thread here, color off here... They all look good to my eyes! Maybe they weren't made on a Friday...

I was trying to be facetious...seems the result of the lockout will be "best" players still get paid obscenely, while remainder of players get squeezed.

To think that Getzlaf will receive compensation comparable to Crosby and Malkin is ludicrous.

My guess is Toews and Kane will receive in the neighborhood of 8-9 M each when new deals are announced.
