I agree they need to earn their opportunities, but the other players on the team need to be held with the same accountability, and that's not always the case.

AV also goes a bit overboard by forcing the two-way play. Some players are just not good at both ends of the ice, and banishing them to the 4th line for long stretches won't always fix that, and it helps neither the team or the player.

This is what the 1040 said today also . They were also quite harsh on Edler saying he needs to be accountable like other players and sat .

Yeah, I think most of the criticism of Edler isn't warranted—it's from fans that only see his mistakes and don't realize how effective he is the other 99% of the time.

That said, after a game as bad as yesterday's, I would have no problem seeing AV sit Edler for a game, like he has Ballard several occasions.

Can't really do it with the injuries on D, at the moment, though.

Benching Ballard for Albert's or Barker is crazy. Even sticking Schroader on the 4th line when scoring is a sure problem, while Lappy plays with skilled players is worse
That being said, I think Gilles is just as much to blame as AV. Get rid of both. We have depth problems while Lu sits on the bench. Hell at this point Flieschman (sp) and Mathias would satisfy me. I am willing to bet a desprete leaf team would have gave Bozak and Franson. But after a great start that ain't happening. Well played mike

It is warranted .Edler is not making smart decisions . He is being caught out of position, not thinking strategy too much ,and we need more from our most expensive Dman.

He is making a lot of rookie mistakes but he is no longer a young player. His shot has been off and he hasn't scored in a while. The 3-8 record is not coincedence .

No, all of it is not. All the Canucks D have made mistakes. All D make mistakes.

Mistakes don't mean a bad D.

A good defender is a player who when they're on the ice, give up less opportunities to score on their own goal than are created on the other.

Edler happens to lead the Canucks D in this, and while facing the stiffer competition, and eating up the most minutes.

House is somewhat clean. Did some laundry, gonna do some dishes.

No poutine, though. Picked up a pre-made chicken cordon bleu that just has to go in the oven, and some rice and a pack of salad.

Looking forward to a night of hockey, and guilt-free x-box and playstation, without having to feel bad that I'm not paying enough attention to the wife

edit: and beer. Lots of beer.

Matt Calvertt is not an elite forward but he made Edler look like he is playing his first couple of games in the NHL.

It seems like every game Edler is involved in some kind of goal scoring gaff.

There are lots of players not playing well, as you mentioned on the team, and we are picking on them too. People are not criticizing Hansen Raymond Bieksa or the twins . Everyone else need to pick it up. We have criticized Weise and Booth not scoring . We have mentioned Ballards errors . We have said about Lapierres invisibility.

Edler is a roller coaster most of the time but lately hasn't showed the peaks only the valleys.

Never tried it. Or even heard of it.

I'll pick some up to try tomorrow. Gotta pick up some of that 311 Helles Lager that Vintage recommended, as well.

Guess I'll be drinking lots this weekend

I've never actually had a bloody mary—I'm a Caesar fan, but they're pretty similar, right?

I have a bit of vodka in the freezer, and the rest of the Caesar fixings. What's the recipe?

edit: Carpet won't be a problem. I'll just drink em in the kitchen

Last time my wife was away for a couple days I got one of those 9 pieces of chicken meals from Sobey's, with a large potato wedges and salads. When my wife got home about 830 that night I was passed out on the couch, I ate the whole thing, half dozens beer. She said I had a few chicken bones on top of my stomach and chicken all over my face

I think it can work once in a while, if it's definitely warranted. I know some players have responded to it in the past.

I'm losing faith in MG, but I'm willing to give him more leeway than AV.

MG did really (frank) up the Lou situation...

Oilers are sucking again tonight. They would make great trade partners and both teams need a blockbuster shakeup.

Edler Schneider Ballard Pinizotto Hansen
J Schultz Yakipov Gagner Dubnyk

We get our puck moving RHD and 2 nd line center and winger,

They get two experienced Dmen a goalie and a honey badger.

Tomato juice instead of Clamato. Way too much MSG in clamato juice. Regular salt rim as opposed to the celery salt rim. Lemon instead of lime and then the regular fixings. I like adding a little horseradish to spice it up. Cheers!

I was going to suggest the yard/patio/balconey depending on where home is.

Phil have a goalie with a luongo contract already. You think they will buy him out at 36 mil?
