I listen to the Terry Bill and Steve show on the radio in the mornings and they give oilers the gears all the time. They have recently been told they can't say the "Oilers" name on their show only when giving the scores. So they now refer to them as Edmonton hockey team.

Katz makes money hand over fist in Edmonton, what incentive does he have to improve the team when it sells out every game? Why not just keep stocking top 5 draft picks? You'll get guaranteed superstars-in-the-making and keep the excitement for the coming season and fan interest only to do it all over again next year. Almost like the Canucks, with Aquilini/Gillis/AV, except we're starting to fall into Calgary territory where we're too stubborn to consider a rebuild and sliding towards mediocrity and just missing the playoffs without getting a high lottery pick and becoming irrelevant again.

Ask MG maybe he will tell you what they are going to do. He has had a ton of big talk but no getting the job done. He can't even fire the coach. I wonder if Aquilini pays that much attention. As for drafting players I don't think MG has done terrible for the late picks. Losing for a better draft pic is unacceptable.

Oilers are sucking again tonight. They would make great trade partners and both teams need a blockbuster shakeup.

Quick quiz: What teams have a losing record against the NorthWest Division as I write this?

Answer: Only Dallas (4-5-0) and Edmonton (3-4-1) By contrast 5 teams have losing records against the Central Division, and 6 teams have losing records against the Pacific Division.

I figured out what a complete joke the NorthWest Division was back when Corey Perry was clearly the best player over whichever overrated twin was not injured that year. But it's getting really bad now. Luckily they are blowing that joke of a division up soon. Look at the record that awesome Canucks team has this year:

Versus the NorthWest: 6-1-1
Versus the Central: 2-1-3 (I know, the Blue Jackets are tough!))
Versus the Pacific: 3-4-2

It doesn't matter as much this year since each team plays about the same number of games against each division, but seriously.....the NorthWest boasts 4 of the 5 worst teams in the West.

I think my argument ends like this: Therefore, the Canucks are waaaaaaay overrated. It'll be awesome when the Ducks get to pad their schedule against Edmonton and Calgary in their own division. Enjoy your tilt against another paper tiger Sunday in Minnesota.

I disagree with that point, but that's an argument in itself. Regardless, even without Gagner, I'd be reluctant to do the trade. Any deal sending Yakupov to Vancouver has to have Jensen+ coming back.
