So what is that 5 or 6 periods without an Oiler goal?

Worked for LA and Carolina - bsteinley
Not really. Carolina had much the same leadership in place from their 2002 cup run. Captain and Alternate captains were all from that team, so the leadership didn't really change. In the mean time all the players they brought in - Stillman, Williams, Whitney, Weight and especially Staal - were HUGE upgrades in talent. It's false to say they only improved in leadership and goaltending.
LA I don't think is very close at all. Getting Richards and Carter for Schenn and Simmonds is (and especially was for last year) a ridiculous jump in talent. They added two top 6 calibre centres, who were sent away from Philly specifically because of locker room issues. That was entirely a function of talent, and not leadership.
I'm not saying changing leadership doesn't do anything. I'm saying changing leadership without improving talent does so close to nothing, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in the standings.

Dubnyk bolstered your anti-Dubnyk arguments. Danis is in. |

Hey Clouts, rather than writing another blog about how bad the Oilers are and how the vets are the only ones doing anything wrong, how about you just post a blog full of funny cat .gifs and pictures. I've grown very tired of reading the same sh*t every damn night.

Here's an interesting stat: Edmonton Oilers defensemen possessed the puck in the neutral zone for a total of 11 seconds in the first period. Theo Peckham lead oilers dmen with 6 seconds of neutral zone puck possession. No Edmonton defenseman carried the puck accross his own blue line in the entire period.
STOP WITH THE (frank)ING STRETCH PASSES! SKATE THE PUCK UP THE ICE. |

I am so tired of this - at the very least if we were losing games but there SEEMED to be something to cheer for....something that exhibited they were putting something together for a late season run or something. |

We hear so much about how god damned fast the Oilers are. It rarely feels like we use our speed to our advantage.
Then there's the fact that our Dmen aren't aware they're allowed to carry the puck out of their own zone. |

Thanks pal. Oilers fans are agreeable when they're self-loathing, aren't they? |
