maybe if management did just one of the suggestions it may be of benefit... we cant even score a (frank)ing goal now... I say weber kills one of the young guns tongiht- this way we can blame this years flop on being vaginas- i mean injuries |

I don't expect anything done today as it's game day and making a trade more than likely (frank)s us for the game tonight, but they better be tweaking before Chicago.
With that being said, I really didn't expect much more than what happened last night. |

Maybe what the oilers need is another prolific goal scorer via first overall pick? Enough O can overcome the bad D, right? - mccraig
Hahahahahahahaha never heard that one before. Wow are you ever original and hilarious. |

Can we all do a fire Lowe chant or fire tambi chant next time? It got Wilson fired.
Say what you will about Burke but he has balls, maybe more than brains sometimes and he recognizes who the paying customer is.

On the bright side, Mike Brown is 100% as advertised.
Lots of solid hits, takes tootoo off and no dumb penalties yet. All while playing 11 minutes. |

If you don't get rid of Lowe, it doesn't matter if you let Tambi or Kreuger or whoever go.
I'm hoping a Jim Nill has phoned Katz and said "look you can't be impressed, let me come in and if you don't like what I do in 2 years then get rid of me".

That would be spectacular. Im sure Katz' boyhood fandom has to be wearing pretty thin by now. The Habs cleared out an old boys club management group and its worked for them. |

Maybe now that Katz has his arena he'll worry more about the team.
I still think this could be somewhat part of the plan as we aren't exactly out by any means, but that's really for Katz and company to know.
The reality is if I'm Katz I'm saying "5 points out from 2.5mil of bonus money in my back pocket".
2.5mil is my assumption of what two home playoff dates would be worth. Might be more though. |

Its the kind of language that speaks to billionaires. New arena is gonna cost him a bit of salad. In any case, I seriously doubt hes happy at this point watching them not only still losing but appearing to have take no steps forward either. Thats whats really frustrating all of us. Not just the losing, but they actually seem to have regressed this year and they shouldnt be. |

2005/2006 - Went to cup finals
2006/2007 - Tried to re-tool after Pronger trade (think what Calgary does yearly)
2007/2008 - The re-tool continues (again think Calgary)
2008/2009 - Third time lucky in the re-tool department??? (does this ever work Calgary)
2009/2010 - Oilers realize re-tooling isn't the way to go and declare scorched earth rebuilding process.
2010/2011 - Year two of rebuild
2011/2012 - Year three of rebuild
2012/2013 - Year four of rebuild - Reveen
Finally, I think your one of the few people who realize Oilers are in year 4 nor year three of the rebuild. |

Still hoping the fan in him is fuming. I hope the next couple games are embarrassing losses as well. Any win streaks delay meaningful change. |

They kinda started doing towards the end of that season though, so it really is still more of a 3 year rebuild. |

Even when we win though they aren't the greatest of wins. Need to add an Umberger or Dubinsky or someone to be the hard worker that Mike Brown is in the bottom 6.
Either that or one of these franchise players has to step up and take this team on his back.
With Hemsky now day-to-day things really aren't going to get any better.

I love how everyone on this site hasn't looked at Dubey's stats before saying he's inconsistent and the team doesn't trust him. Some of the people on this site are the least informed hockey fans I've ever spoken to. - TheNugeIsHuge

Haha, this is to funny! Btw I'm glad you had mentioned the habs turn around. There are a ton of parallels. Either way, I personally don't think the team as a whole can be blamed, it really has to come down to whos stearing the ship.
Ill add that I think the nuge would be one of the pieces to go to bring in guys that are missing. I thought at first hall but I think nuge will have a bigger return. Call me crazy but I tink one of the coveted guys must go to make this team right. |

I agree. It would be different if they had some kids on the farm close to filling the gaps, but they dont. I know its hard to pull off deals right now, but if you have to over pay a bit for the right player then go for it. |

Lowe is the problem. His man love for Hemsky has cost this team.
Defense and goaltending cant win a game if you cant score. Our first line is great. But thats it. Teams are willing to take their chances with line 2 because they know Hemsky will (frank) it up more often than not. The bottom 6 dont scare anyone.
They need to get rid of Hemsky. For anything. Put Gags and Yak with anyone else on the left side and let them come together. Until we have 2 legit lines that can score the first line will get keyed on and every team knows it. Shut down line one, take your chances with the rest. Thats the formula to beat the oilers. |

How is it the vets who are the problem when their young guns couldn't do better than 18-15 and 4th place in a 5 team division in the AHL?
The problem is no puck support, and a defence that can't make a good first pass to save their life... |
