Holy hell that's a big number based on his numbers the last couple of years... - jtommyt
I agree that's high but I had seen some people thought he would be closer to 10... Yikes for someone who gives 110%, 60% of the time thats pretty high. I remember watching him with the Hitmen and god could he be frustrating game to game. |

Wow they can keep him. - whipper334
See ya later Perry...going to be tough keeping him too!
They'll have about $20M in cap space next year with 8 guys to sign...a few of which will be looking for extra dough. |

Well...like I mean...its a little high but hes only 27, star centerman who has 160pts in 170gp over the last three years. You want to lock those guys down. |

If you lose a guy that's scored 104 goals on the same line in that same time span is Getz still going to put up those numbers though? |
|
|
|
That's only $450,000 less than Crosby and Malkin.
Getzlaf's agent deserves a medal. - jtommyt
He must have taken the home town discount. |

Maybe not...but I would be shocked if the team finds a way to sign Perry as well, considering he will likely also want a 5+ year deal at big money. Its going to be tough to balance that and still have other holes/contracts to fill/sign. |

Cammi for Holland/Lindholm + a 1st would ulimately save them money. |

I think that sealed his fate but they'll wait and see what comes out of the wood work in terms of offers... 8 million... So question what is Iggy worth on the open market? Is Getzlaf more valuable (and no AMO I don't mean in salary)than Jarome? |

If I'm Perry's agent I'm looking for at least 9mil from the Ducks based on the fact that my guy was the f'n MVP, and you just paid his linemate 8.25. |

Yes. Based largely on the 8 year age difference.

You can guarantee that Perry would not sign there for a penny less than 8.25. |

Problem is these guys turn 27-28 & hit these monster homerun deals & there numbers digress as they get into their 30's. It becomes an albatross contract after year 4-5. Anaheims cap is now way out of whack. For Getlaff, wow, he better hope they go on a nice long run this year. If you are paying this kind of money per year, I wouldnt go more than 3-4 years. 8 years has to give you some kind of discount, to me 8 years should have been no more than a 6.0mill cap hit . |

8.5-9 I would guess is what theyll demand. |

I might have to get me a bottle of CRB tonight cuz I'm thinking Anahiem will come out super pumped now that their captain is signed long-term; kinda like how Colorado played us that game (i'm still trying to forget) after they found out that management matched Calgary's offer.

Thing is...although Toronto needs an extra guy like that, they arent exactly stocked in the extra assets department where they can afford to move prospects. Maybe an extra 2nd/3rd line guy like Frattin but aside from that...I dont know. |

Or some of the other players (Perry, Ryan, etc) will be pissed and know they're on the way out. |

Calgary has historically done well against stronger teams this year. And yes I will have a write up soon |

And is Ana looking for prospects or someone that can jump right in? That would change any trade... |

I would imagine, given their current success that they either DONT move him, or move him for added immediate depth. He's a large part of their current success and if moved, they would have a serious hole to fill. A few immediate roster players who can provide an impact with respec to 2nd/3rd line scoring would be needed. |

Iggy and our 1st for a signed Perry. The Ducks may just go for it considering they may lose him for nothing. Iggy would replace Perry on the Getz line. |
