I am sad you don't appreciate it.

Blue Moon sounds good, but I don't like beers that require an orange slice.
Why is Backlund for Purcell such blasphemy? He isn't Joe Nieuwendyk.
I guess just be happy I am not Craig Button. And, one thing I have noticed, Flames fans seem to be some of the least likely to go out on a limb and propose a trade of any kind. I do, even if it may be a poorly thought out one. Any counter-suggestions? |

Craig Button? Wtf are you talking about? |

Since this is supposedly a rumor site, I want Teddy Purcell on the Flames.
Assuming they become sellers, would Steve Y take a 2013 4th, 2014 3rd, Stepniak and Irving? - FLflames34
Tampa Bay laughs at this one. Not close to his value.

Meaning be happy I am not the gm, one who could be as inept as him.
Throw out a trade offer, of any sort, that you think would help the Flames.
I cannot reiterate this enough. The Flames blog needs more trade suggestions, good or bad, to deflate the continual rehash of kicking a dead horse.

Perhaps today. Perhaps not on 4/1, if Backlund comes back and gets at a decent ppg rate. I am thinking Purcell has a much higher cap hit the next 3, and may want a break. What would the + need to be to make it work?
I think maybe a 2014 2nd. Any more than that then it is not worth it. |

Here's the thing. I've been thinking about this quite a bit. If they keep Iggy, CGY will have to move some salary to keep the free agents they will likely want to keep. The way I see it, Cammi is the best candidate to move. Right now he is hot, has 1 year left on his contract, will free up 6mil to CGY and should bring back a decent return.
1 team nobody is talking about is ANA. The sit 2nd in the league and may want 1 more shot with Perry and Getz. If Perry indeed has thoughts of leaving, Cammi could be a good fill in on the LW alongside Getz and Ryan on the RW. ANA has plenty of good prospects. How about Cammi for a 1st and Holland or Lindholm?
Sorry, but I don't think we need another winger right now. We need young D and C. |

I can say nice work on not nodding Getzlaf. There is no way he goes to Calgary.
So- with your proposal, I like, but would prefer it to be a 2014 2nd. As it stands, Perry is not a substantial improvement on Cammi. Dude is lights out.
I would like a different move just a bit. How about JBo and Stepniak and a 1st for Perry and Lydman (UFA)? Assuming we get a re-sign from Perry? |

Maybe I'm reading your comment wrong, but my suggestion was not trade for Perry but rather to shed Cammi's salary and acquire young talent and picks. My thinking was that ANA acquiring Cammi would help them this year for a playoff run and still help fill the void by Perry possibly moving.
I'm not sure why you would rather have a 2nd than a 1st.
Again:
To ANA- Cammillari
To CGY- Holland or Lindholm and a 1st. |

OK this one is for you. How to rebuild in one full swoop.
1/ First trade is Iggy to Boston for Spooner, 2013 1st, 2013 2nd& a conditional 2014 1st if he resigns with the Bruins
2/Trade Cammi to Anaheim for Winnik & Anaheim 2013 1st
3/Trade Gio & Stempniak & a 2014 2nd to Buffalo for Tyler Myers
4/Butler & Comeau to Ottawa for Bishop & a 2013 3rd
5/ Trade Macdonald to Carolina for a 2013 3rd
it shakes out: Tanguay Backlund Sven
Cervenka Stajan Hudler
GlenX Winnik Horak
Begin Jones Jackman/Mcgratten
JBO/Myers
Wideman/Brodie
Smith/Sarich
Kipper/Bishop
We'll have 3 1st rounders this draft, 1 2nd & 3 3rd's & a possible extra 1st if Iggy resigns with Boston. Then I would pull a Brian Burke & package whatever I had to to get 2 top 3 picks at this years draft. There you go. |

The last 15 times in Anaheim Calgary has gone 0 - 15.
The last 25 times Calgary is 1 - 24.
So there's a chance... |

Depending what kind of prospect Spooner is> Is he going to be a first line centre? If so I think him and a 1st would do. If his ceiling is a 2nd line centre then maybe you would have to add a another prospect or a 2nd. |

Ive said it many times...
Flames fans slag the Oilers, but the Oilers games have been more fun to go to than the Flames games over the past few years. So you can keep trying to make yourself feel better by knocking someone else down, but it doesnt change the fact that the Flames are no better. If they dont trade Iggy? Then they will pay for it in the long term. - Iggysbff
I disagree! I don't want to watch meaningless hockey! I know the Flames have missed the playoffs the last 3 years but they've always been right in it until the end. I don't want to watch a game where the outcome doesn't matter. |

Going to be one hell of a battle, thats for sure! Ducks are 7-1-2 in their last 10. A win tonight pushes the Flames into 10th and possibly two points from 5th. Its a tight race I tells ya! San Jose and Dallas are slipping... |

Sorry guys...it wont end until he either signs or is traded...From TSN an hour ago:
Craig Custance of ESPN.com listed the top 20 players who have expiring contracts at the end of the season that could help out teams trying to make a push. Anaheim Ducks forward Cory Perry, Ottawa Senators winger Daniel Alfredsson, New Jersey Devils forward David Clarkson, Calgary Flames winger Jarome Iginla and Washington Capitals centre Mike Ribeiro top the list.

They have to find a way to win, end of story, this is the type of game that will show us if this team is different from what we have seen the past 3-4 years. |
