It wouldn't be just Kessel, but I would say this trade has a chance of happening. If Perry is going to leave for nothing, getting a guy that can score 30 goals every year and putting him with Getzlaf (if he re signs) would only help Kessel.
If Anaheim wants to get a return for Perry and still aspire to contend this season a guy like Kessel makes way more sense than a package of picks and prospects. |

Well, Iggy will need to make up his mind in the next two weeks - relative on him resigning in Calgary or not. This will give the Flames to enter trade discussions if he says he is looking to go elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Flames are right there in play-off contention once again, or not too far off. I don't think he gets dealt because management won't be able to help themselves. Trading him basically says you aren't going to the play-offs. Do you chance it?

I think it is a matter of trading him because the assets returned are worth more to the club. They need depth. Just like Edmonton did with Ryan Smyth (but hopefully Calgary has better scouts). Smyth was the heart and soul but moved for prospects. |
