I'd love a fourth line center who can win faceoffs similar to what Madden brought to this team. Having two dominant faceoff guys on a puck possession team is sick. And if they can add a winger with size that would be gravy. Question is who do you take out of the lineup if you make one or two moves?
I know some have talked about trading Stalberg but can you deal him given how well he's played on line three and with Sharp out?
Smith really has one deficit and it is he doesn't have quick firt steps...once he is going, fine. This team needs quick to replace quick...I thought the reason Smith was sent back was for that very reason, while in his zone he got muddled when they tried to get out, and he didn't glide or move or outlet quickly enough to avoid engagement. - wiz1901
The only "likely"candidate at Rockford who is "quick" is Pirri. Hayes and Morin are as slow or slower than Smith.
that explains everything.....good thing he doesn't pick stocks...you would go broke - bogiedoc
Amen. I appreciate the guy has this site and gives me the opportunity to read the various bloggers, there are several really good ones. But holy hell, the rumors are so far out in left field.
I'd be happier than a pig in slop if they got Ott from BUF and used picks and/or prospects to do it. This is assuming the playoff viability of 10, 65, 67 & 81. - blackhawk24
Ott is not coming here without a player salary in return...he has year left at $3mil plus....does not fit salary structure or cap.
The way Shaw bounces around, you'd think he'd have more concussions by now. The dude is always in the middle of things. I hate those chicken wing elbows...similar to Kubina/Bolland - eburgio
Seems to me that Stastny knew and was upset Shaw was there. You don't just randomly bring up your elbow after dumping the puck in. Shaw goes low to finish his check, Stastny throws the elbow high.
If Shaw has his chance to return quickly he'll likely take a few runs at Stastny in one of the next two outings vs Colorado.

Stastny knew wxactly what he was doing and Shaw's hit was late...

Next to a big/more physical winger with grit this is the #1 thing this team needs going into the trade season.
My guess is Sharp could have a shoulder/collarbone issue but I wouldn't rule out a concussion as well.
Today's column...

>>>It would be better if we didn't have to guess so much about the extent of injuries. It is understandable for the player's protection there would be times a team would not be as forthcoming about the details of an injury. Maybe, in the not too distant future the outlook for a player suffering a head injury could be disclosed more fully.<<<
but here we are within moments and hours of the injury speculating from what we see on the scr and our own injury anecdotes....before the diagnostics on a player have been completed....
I believe the Hawks might be willing to deal a rostered player for him. - John Jaeckel
that would be interesting to see who...given they would add 3.5 mil to next years cap and have even less room for thier RFA's leddy and kruger.
You would have think a combo Stahls, Bicks or Bolland would be leaving the land of red jerseys. Been wrong many times but I don't see a guy coming hear with an existing contract into next year.

I agree, unless there is a contract with years on it beyond this year is going the other way.
Thinking about the elbow by Statsny, it is time the Blackhawks get a little 'dirty'. They have enough of a cushion in the division. They should go out of their way to make Matt Duchene or Gabriel Landeskog pay.

The fact is that nothing is disclosed in detail days following a concussion. Many times we never know for sure if players had in fact suffered a concussion.
As I wrote, I understand about protecting a player but at some point fans should be informed if a player is going to be out an extended time.
At least letting the media and fans know the player in fact suffered a concussion would be a good start.
As far speculating........ Broken bones are usually diagnosed right away...Kesler's foot a different story but not typical.
This is gate driven league and a lot of people with families can only afford to go to one game a year....It would be good that they were informed, especially so about concussions when deciding to plunk down $$.
