I've had subluxation twice. It sucks but nothing was severely torn. Lotta sore but still pretty functional.

Grade two would not be terrible.

If it were broken clavicle that would be easy to diagnose. You can see and feel it.

My hope is it was a "stinger" which is like a quick shoulder jam/pop. Think this is what Callahan had. For anyone who has never injured the shoulder, it is scary as you think you separated or really hurt your shoulder. But it is a quick pop in and out. I experienced this. Was fine in a few days, but that was baseball.

Hope MRI and a few days rest show that everything is status qou and he gets a few weeks off.

Sharp's body language said separated shoulder, and even if he's out three to six weeks, that might be the best case scenario.

I had an arthroscopic + mini-open procedure on a partially torn rotator cuff six months ago and I just got cleared yesterday to do whatever I want in the gym. It is a tricky joint and a very slow recovery; I was told to expect 8-12 months for a full recovery.

- MartiniMan

Had a similar thing. Throwing arm (baseball related). About a 1" tear. Late last season. Chose to re-hab w/o surgery. And that has taken 6 months already. Just started a light toss last week, 30' max distance, lighter than normal MLB-size ball.

I dislocated my shoulder in a hockey game a few months back but luckily it popped right back in and i finished the game

It was sore the rest of the game as you would assume and i wasnt really able to stabilize any weight over my head in the gym for about a month until the ligaments tightened back up.

I was fortunate though

Ummm, yeah, I would avoid that guy. Although I will say Fleischmann makes sense on some levels.
- John Jaeckel

Yea not trying to be a Richard or anything I am just genuinely curious as to how it makes sense? He played a winger last year on the Panthers one and only scoring line. He's got a scoring touch no doubt about that, but as someone else said he doesn't take many faceoffs even if he's listed as a center. Not a fan of C/W. It's like trying to cover up a knife wound with a bandaid.

I would say the initial rumors of 2-3 weeks would sound about right. 3-6 weeks would be a pretty significant should injury

Ryan Callahan popped his shoulder out of place and only missed about 10 days

- FourFeathers773

Callahan had a dislocated shoulder. If Sharpie's shoulder is separated, thats's a little worse, since there's typically a tear associated with the separation

Pierre LeBrun wrote on Tuesday that the Hawks have already had internal discussions about who they're targeting via trade so I do anticipate them making a move or two before the deadline. Fleischmann would be a nice addition but the Hawks would have to deal him again in the offseason or send someone(s) else packing because after this year he's stilled owed $9 mil over the next 2 seasons.
- dan9189

Based on what I hear, Pierre is correct. By the way, I am told he reads the blog, maybe the comments.

The Hawks have a short list of players who might be on the market that they are interested in. They have contacted the teams and let them know if/when they are ready to deal, the Hawks would like to discuss it. One is a big marquee name, the rest are more role guys. The much greater likelihood is they land a role guy or two.

Egads, Fatty, great link -- if y'all looked at the xrays posted for the various shoulder injuries, mine began aching!

Let's hope for the best with Sharpie but I'll bet he's in a world of pain.

I'd be happier than a pig in slop if they got Ott from BUF and used picks and/or prospects to do it. This is assuming the playoff viability of 10, 65, 67 & 81.

Pretty sure 67 and 81 are fine. Not aware of Shaw having any concussion history (anyone who follows the OHL?). For some reason, he strikes me as the kind of guy who eats concussions for breakfast.

10 is a legit concern.

*The Blackhawks may be losing Patrick Sharp for a few weeks, but even before this news went down the rumors were ringing that the Hawks were looking to make a splash and pick up a big center....guy with size.

I want Ott so bad. Huge doucher but he's killer on the dot and gives you everything you'd want out of a guy during the playoffs.

Not sure who he's referring to but the Hawks have been looking at C/W's with size for months.

None of the names I have heard would qualify as a "splash," however, except maybe Plekanec which I don't see happening due to how well MON is playing.

My guess is Sharp could have a shoulder/collarbone issue but I wouldn't rule out a concussion as well.

The way Shaw bounces around, you'd think he'd have more concussions by now. The dude is always in the middle of things. I hate those chicken wing elbows...similar to Kubina/Bolland

First thought is to roll with Smith on the fourth line. Good forchecker, provides speed and energy and could fit there. I don't love Car Bomb on line 2 but I think him and Smith can be interchangeable. Though I kind of like the size and goal scoring ability of Hayes on line 2. Also like Morin's goal scoring ability on 2 as well. It'll be interesting to see what they do.
- golfbard

Smith really has one deficit and it is he doesn't have quick firt steps...once he is going, fine. This team needs quick to replace quick...I thought the reason Smith was sent back was for that very reason, while in his zone he got muddled when they tried to get out, and he didn't glide or move or outlet quickly enough to avoid engagement.

Who in Rockford is quicker than Smith that could fit in the line-up? Hayes, Morin and Bollig are not as quick as Smith. Pirri is, but you don't want him on a checking line.

would like to see any of the following: derek brassard, chris neil, zach smith, if buffalo is in the mood which i doubt they are,, steve ott.
i 'd rather have kids like this vs an older rent a player like fleischman where they have to get rid of someone unless it's 5 or 85!
