Was the Ravinia show the one with Jonnie Lang (who needs to learn about the notes you don't play) and he brought out Lonnie Brooks for a couple of songs? - StLBravesFan
No, it was Robert Cray opening for Buddy. I think it was summer of 2009. |

Uuugh. Talk about approximating bluesy sounds and playing too many notes
Thouh, you know, I give Big Head Todd and Todd Mohr some props for doing a similar career change into blues. But John Mayer?! No. |

Talented for sure but no thanks. A critic in the Trib several years back described the live experience as "music to fold your laundry to". |

BB King??
I saw him last year...Likes talk as much as play these days. But I still appreciated the show. But he is getting up there.
I got to see Muddy Waters not long before he passed away.
Would like to see Buddy Guy again as I saw him about 12 years ago.
All vey good in their own way.

If you like a little funk in your blues, check out Lurrie Bell "Young Man's Blues" with Billy Branch on harp. Their Cadillac Assembly Line is top notch! |

Wow. Gotta chime in on this one. Albert, B.B., and SRV were better, IMO. I cut my teeth in Rosa's lounge in the late 90's and have talked to many old timers who scoff at the idea hat Buddy is one of the all time greats. Entertaining and I love the stuff he did with Junior Wells, but I'll even go Mike Bloomfield and some Clapton stuff before I go Buddy Guy. All subjective. Just love tht some people still care enough about the blues to argue! Anyone play? I have harps and will travel!!! - Kentxo
Gotta include Luther Allison, RIP. |

I would credit Viktor for getting open for a shot. That much, but nothing more. I don't recall who the Av defender was Kruger beat, but he looked a lot bigger than Kruger. That was a great hockey play, beginning to end.
VIK WAS OTHERWISE VERY GOOD THOUGH. HIS ENERGY I THOUGHT KEPT THE HAWK SIN IT IN THE THIRD. - John Jaeckel
Vik really stepped it up. It'll be interesting to see the prognosis on Sharp. The swelling definitely affects a good MRI read. Shoulders aren't fun...had extensive surgery in August. It was a miracle for me to be back on the ice in 4 months. Hopefully Sharp's is little more than a mild separation |

I see its Pitt - Philly on NHL again - there are other teams, guys.
Are they not allowed to show Canadian (not meaning Montreal) games to the US audience? |

"Buddy can go from one end of the spectrum to another. He can play quieter than anybody I've ever heard, or wilder and louder than anybody I've ever heard. I play pretty loud a lot of times, but Buddy's tones are incredible. He pulls such emotion out of so little volume. Buddy just has this cool feel to everything he does. And when he sings, it's just compounded. Girls fall over and sweat and die! Every once in a while I get the chance to play with Buddy, and he gets me every time, because we could try to go to Mars on guitars but then he'll start singing, sing a couple of lines, and then stick the mike in front of me! What are you gonna do? What is a person gonna do?"

Amazing story....For someone who could never read music and learned by listening to some of the greats.
I'm sure if you asked Buddy Guy who is the best Blues Guitar player alive he wouldn't hesitate and would say BB King.
But Guy is a real talent...And he has a profound respect for the men who came before him. |
