The real question with the Ducks is if Murray will let Perry stick around after the Deadline if he hasn't signed an extension.

He is in a tough spot because popular opinion is Perry will test free agency and Getzlaf will resign sooner than later.

The East Coast clubs, and maybe Monteal will be the ones looking to make a big splash with rentals....

if he flew out with them today, then he is probably playing
- John Jaeckel

Asked a doctor friend of mine...in his opinion if a concussion was a real concern they wouldn't have let Shaw fly, so presumably they cleared him.

That said, I think they have had enough concussion concerns (with Hossa and Toews) in the past to probably re-evaluate Shaw tomorrow and decide then whether he plays or not. If there is ANY risk at all or any hint of a headache, I think he sits as a precaution. Either way, it'll be more telling whether or not he flies back after the game, whether he plays or not.

If the flu is going around, he should be! Keep that crap quarantined from the rest of the locker room. If Hossa is sick, he shouldn't be on the plane, either!

They generally only hear what the team wants them to. Or if they hear otherwise, depending on who they work for they have to be careful about going out with it.
- John Jaeckel

I get it....I guess it's more a Blackhawk issue. They dictate what gets reported.

The closer you are to the team and the way they channel the media, access, etc., the more you hear what you are "supposed" to hear.

If you work for CSN, you are greatly restricted in what you can say, when and how. or so I've been told. I would also not be surprised if stories are routinely "pitched" to them by the Hawks—which because of how the dollars flow, means "here's something you need to cover."

I also have to be fair with the beat guys, I suspect I have more latitude to go out with "reports"/rumors etc than they do. Though I try to always make sure to provide the appropriate context: "from a (anonymous) source," "rumor", "not confirmed by the team."

To Wash- Schneider and a prospect
For
To Van- Ribeiro, Johansson and Holtby

Don't know if anyone saw that but it was one of Ian's suggested trades on the C's blog. I'm thinking the Caps would need to throw Brouwer and Carlson in to make that trade happen.

I've heard that Wash wants to sign Ribeiro to an extension, but if they give up on this year anything is possible I suppose.

Esplen hates Brouwer, thinks Tom Sestito is just as good, see below: LOL

"There are a lot of people on here who drool over the thought of landing Troy Brouwer (I'm not one of them). While, in my opinion, Tom Sestito has that same type of skill set. He's bigger than Brouwer. He's a better fighter than Brouwer. And he has close to the same type of hands as Brouwer. All the guy needs is a chance and I feel he can develop into a 200 hit, 15 goal type of player. "

Has anyone suggested this team keeps the winning formula intact by keeping Stalberg through the playoffs?

If the salary cap is such an issue then summer time trade Bolland, and if necessary next is Stalberg. You need them for the playoffs. Accept draft picks unless you can pry a good prospect-- most likely the draft picks. In fact, if able move into the top half of round one 2013, that is where this team finds next core player. Along with Tervainen once he gets stronger.

You should just accept the fact that any deals will be for depth as in bottom line yalent forwards who supply either face off or toughness. Do not expect a Reasoner or anyone who us at best an avaverage skater. For the possible role they may play.....anyone with limited minutes who is an average skater is hardly an uograde over certain Icehogs.

Icehogs user abillty: Smith best & can be utility type. Morin if he doess as told had a great shot and can fit on scoring lines. Pirri is for powerplay. Hayes if desperate use him in front of net (refer to Phoenix playoff last year). Remember each is not up to oar skating & our team offense is not such a big challenge to our opponent once we do not overpower with skating

I hope that's legit.

Young captain Landeskog has his hands full with that locker room.

If the story is at all true, that could mean you have two proud, competitive, driven people--short-term, perhaps good results individually--long-term, that can be cancerous . . . .

At least they play in the big boy league...you know, the one where the pitcher is man enough to pick up a bat and try to help his own cause.
