Why does playoff expierience matter when you have guys all around him that do? I understand what our saying, but Brassard, if available, helps this team because he can play at their pace. That's one of the more important things when considering a target. Iginla has been a great player and has experience, but he doesnt have the legs he used to and this team plays such a fast paced style. If Stalberg and a RFD player gets Brassard your Line-up looks like this.
20-19-81
10-Brass-88
29-36-65
67-16-13 - nickmo2699
My issue is you know what you have with Stalberg. With Brassard, you either get a guy who is a good 2nd line C or someone who is so invisible he ends up on the Jackets' 4th line some nights. Too much of a gamble. If you get him for a pick/prospect, different story, but I'm not willing to gamble a roster player and potentially, team chemistry when we're this close. |

Unless last year was a fluke...I don't understand why this was done now, since the Sox have control of him for years. - ArlingtonRob
Doesn't this get him a couple of years into Free Agency relatively cheaply? |

Getzlaf is close to re-signing so I doubt he's going anywhere...Perry is likely going UFA (if he's not traded). - andru2797
Perry will be a draft day deal likely if Getzlaf is re-signed. Mallards ain't fading any time soon. They may go for it and add more in the next 2-3 weeks. |

Bollig recalled.... there is the big move. - droe411
So do the lines tomorrow resemble something like this:
Carcillo/Saad-Toews-Hossa
Saad/Carcillo-Bolland-Kane
Bickell-Kruger-Stalberg
Bollig-Mayers-Frolik
Assuming Frolik and Hossa are flu symptom free of course |

With Emery becoming a UFA this year, does anyone think he will land a starters job somewhere in the league?? The only issue I have would he be able to handle the workload over the long haul? I think he might and I love the way he completes. |

I want to read that they waive the guy, not return him to the lineup.
I want talent, not staged fights. - ArlingtonRob
Oh come on, the guy is not THAT bad of a hockey player. Certainly an upgrade over the One Man Clown Car: John Scott
Positional, hits people, can kill a penalty and CAN shoot the puck, granted beyond that he's just a brawler |

Great Points!!!!
However, I look at him a lot like I look at a guy like Voracek. Highly touted player surrounded with lack luster talent year after year. A change of scenery for a skill player that will be able to play between two high end skill players will suit his game. He can use his speed and he can score too. Look at a guy like Cogliano who needed a scenery change and has been very good with ANA. |

I read this earlier, think its more hubris on his part to try and stick with his preseason pick - Jagbears
Those arguments are about as misguided and objective as the now removed "5 reasons not to be afraid of the Hawks" that was posted on the bleedinblue blog. |

Yes, in theory it's a team friendly deal. But this is assuming the guy is good/great going forward.
If not it's cash down the crapper... |

if the Hawks deal Stalberg, it might look like an overpay but it will be in part because they don't think they can sign him and fit him and everyone else under their cap.

At least try someone else that may or may not be a player. I don't mind Bollig but liked Smith much more and who the hell knows about Morin. - fattybeef
I was hoping Sharp to IR, Smith up with Morin
Saad-Toews-Hossa
Morin-Bolland-Kane

Stay clear of Brassard, soft, injury prone, overpaid and is a very poor mans Frolik. Frolik is very reliable defensively while Brassard can not even spell that word. |

Seems like the Aves have a few more problems than dealing with the Hwks again on Friday. - bogiedoc
Here's the key:
Prior to the offer sheet being signed, O’Reilly’s father wrote a scathing email to the Denver Post, blasting the Avs organization and how it handled contract negotiations.
When you have parents - or anyone else - taking this public, it makes for a bad situation. It makes the mouths look like they're more important than the team. |

Yeah, yeah...I know. I do wander into hyperbole...
...but Bollig is basically... as a hockey player.
Let's roll that 4th line of Kruger with Gorilla Salad and Bollig!!! really? |

The elbow to the noggin was nasty. League should review it and a suspension be handed out.
Of course that's if the league wants to stop head shots to ALL players, not just super stars named Sidney Crosby. |

D'OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He didn't even get to go Rockford. Just sobered up and joined the team.
Now we get to see a whole 5 more minutes of the dude......Assuming he doesn't get into a fight or draw a stupid penalty, which he almost assuredly will......
Whatever, the Hawks are winning. Can't complain too much.
