Unless last year was a fluke...I don't understand why this was done now, since the Sox have control of him for years.
- ArlingtonRob

No doubt... to soon to throw that kind of money at a pitcher for that term!!

The contract covers all 3 of his arbitration years and the first year of his first free agency year.

Huge risk for the Sox ..

Getzlaf is close to re-signing so I doubt he's going anywhere...Perry is likely going UFA (if he's not traded).

Dont understand that. Is ANA real thin at Center?

LOL touché on the Cup...and I suppose that Avs team is comparable to this Hawks team in that they've got a ton of firepower.

I may be convinced...depending on the return. He's also signed to a very palatable 3.5 for the next 3 seasons.

- andru2797

He'd be a nice piece to add...so would Iggy obviously...the price would be the big question ?

If the team had it their way they'd retain both. Apparently from what I've heard Getzlaf likes it there and wants to stay, but Perry is keen on testing the market. If that's true, it makes sense for Anaheim to put more effort in retaining the one that's more likely to stay.

Iggy is too slow, and the Hawks need to give up too much for him. They need to pursue that Thompson kid, or go after a guy like Brassard who is a high speed, high skill level player. Brassard puts Bolland back in the third line spot giving Shaw the ability to fill Stalberg's vacancy on the third line.

Also, they are thin...Getzlaf (UFA), Koivu (UFA), Cogliano...and no big name prospects at C...

You really want someone with 0 playoff experience and no consistent production to speak of being your second line center in May and June?

Do you throw all that to ANA when you can throw less and get Getzlaf?

Before asking this question think of why the Ducks would trade their top line center when they are 2nd in the western conference. No team in the west outside of Columbus and maybe Calgary will make a trade with the Hawks.

I've read some praise for this deal, but the chance of Sale being a fluke or getting hurt are high in my opinion...his resume is just too short.

But what do I know...I'm just a fan. And it's not my money.

White Sox announce a 5-year, $32.5M contract extension for ace Chris Sale or, as it is listed in the baseball-inflation glossary: a bargain.

- philco28

Sale will receive $850,000 in 2013, $3.5 million in 2014, $6.0 million in 2015, $9.15 million in 2016 and $12 million in 2017

Gorilla Salad

1. A thick, course public bush reminiscent of the jet black hair of the eastern mountain gorilla (G. beringei beringei).

2. Professional ice hockey player and all around mouth-breathing Richard-clown Daniel Carcillo.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Dan "Gorilla Salad" Carcillo has been suspended indefinitely, pending an in-person hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety regarding an act of aggravated stupidity.

3. gorilla salad

some nasty ass untamed pubic hair that protrudes outta tha panties; an overgrown bush; a muff with a horrendous amount of fur.
Danielle refused to go swimming yesterday because her overgrown gorilla salad was showing.

Alex's gorilla salad is so mangy that she has to get that poop waxed every week.

Why does playoff expierience matter when you have guys all around him that do? I understand what our saying, but Brassard, if available, helps this team because he can play at their pace. That's one of the more important things when considering a target. Iginla has been a great player and has experience, but he doesnt have the legs he used to and this team plays such a fast paced style. If Stalberg and a RFD player gets Brassard your Line-up looks like this.

20-19-81
10-Brass-88
29-36-65
67-16-13

At least try someone else that may or may not be a player. I don't mind Bollig but liked Smith much more and who the hell knows about Morin.
