I agree with your earlier point about the D, Mick. Maybe not so much the big bruiser types, but what that team really needs is a couple of hardnosed defensemen that can skate, blog shots, and serve as shutdown guys. Maybe Griffin Reinhardt is one, and maybe you can use system assets to acquire another. That team has all of the organizational assets necessary to win soon. - Pete V

It's a lot of scratch...but for your first-line center and captain...eh, I guess we'll see. If he leads the Ducks to another Cup in the coming years, it'll be well worth it. If this prevents them from adding a crucial piece to make that Cup run, then it's too much. If Tavares wanted $8M or else he'd leave, I'd support giving it to him. Not really sure if Getzlaf is as important to the Ducks as Tavares is to the Isles since I just don't watch them nearly as much...
