hey prove it.

Next time the Devils roll into the Coliseum, I want every Islander and every fan to be as fanatical as they were last night.

- jimbro83

i can only account for myself but a win against the rangers has exactly the same meaning to me as a win against the devils.

i even said that a few days ago when people were saying last nights game was a must win. i disagreed, it wasnt a must-win, it was a must-give-100%-effort game...as is every game.

Hickey was mismatched...stuck out there against Nash almost every shift. That said, he shouldn't be in the lineup over Martinek while Martinek is actually healthy.

or as i like to call them...the p*ssy line...

hickey and boyes had AWFUL and i mean AWFUL games...

- LetsGoIsles

That's a good description for them. I cannot take that line anymore. I know a guy like Frans can do almost everything but he never scores a big goal. We may need to wait for the offseason for some player and coaching moves but the Isles have a real shot at the playoffs it would be nice to see a coaching or some player moves now.

That probably has more to do with the New Yorker in all of us hating white trash scum otherwise known as the Philadelphia sports fan. The biggest loser in all of sports.

I go back to Dave Schultz, Bobby Clarke, Ken Linseman, Dave Brown, Rick Tocchet all the way up to the present day Scott Hartnell led doooosh bags. Nothing I despise more

Same here. I'd gladly take the 8th seed and get swept by the Rangers in the regular season over the opposite. Don't get me wrong, they're a rival and I'd prefer to beat them, but we've had more emotional battles against the Pens and Flyers over the last few years.

the problem is that the Islanders, like their fans, seem to have the ultimate goal of BEING BETTER THAN THE RANGERS

and not to win the Stanley Cup.

It's perfectly illustrated by the fact the Islanders played as though it was for the Cup last night, which is great, but where was that intensity when they lost 7-0 to the Flyers?

Beating the Flyers is just as important as beating the Rangers in the grand scheme of things isn't it?

unless, the only goal is to be better than the Rangers

- jimbro83

That's the Ranger fan's 'holier than thou' attitude right there. Bottom line is, are the Rangers better than the Islanders? Marginally. I'd be worried about that if I was a Ranger fan. On paper, it shouldn't even be a contest. Factor in the players, and money spent on them.

he definitely was mismatched. fact.

i just think he also looked timid, was intimidated and afraid of getting hit hard. he didnt look natural out there, fell down too many times, had lazy passes and turnovers. prob his worst game of the season.

You're kidding right? Any team with John Tavares has a chance to beat any other team on any given night.

well, that's a typical Islander fan attitude right there if you want to play that game.

Bringing the money spent into the conversation.

Rangers are always going to spend as much as possible, they are never going to get the first pick overall in the draft because they will never be bad enough to get it, so they have to go out and get them.

But, you have to admit, some pretty good home grown players on these Rangers these days.

No I agree with this somewhat. This team has too many players that don't show up or care. That is on the coach. He needs to sit the Okposos and Baileys to wake them up. If these guys would put up 95% effort every game we would be in the 7 or 8 spot right now no doubt.

Capuano is a HUGE part of the problem. Bad management on that one, he needs to go.

never is a strong word...with the new draft rules, they have a better shot at it if they miss the playoffs...

money issue HAS TO come into play as the payrolls are night and day.

FWIW (which is, not much)

Ek said streit is being looked at by the habs; boyes by the maple leafs and this gem...

"Despite the player being done for the season I continue to hear it is possible his rights could somehow be traded given that those close to the situation feel Weiss s not returning to Florida and will test the UFA market. The Islanders are among the teams who may pick up Weiss.."

Unless you finish inside the top 10, the chances of you getting a shot at first overall would be slim.

Please do not get me started. I get Wang not wanting to spend millions on a player but a coach does not get paid like players. Another team is going to come along and hire Ruff.

I'm starting to come around to the AMac hate. Although I'd say Hamonic has made more mistakes leading to goals over the past handful of games. Directly responsible for both goals against Ottawa, and last night, he ruined a successful faceoff by passing the puck directly to Nash on the Rangers' first goal.

It has to be. It's THE reason the Islanders struggle to be competitive. You guys trolling around here is ridiculous. And you pretending to be diplomatic is laughable.

Your comment about homegrown players is irrelevent. Don't pretend to be an Islander sympathizer, because you get your digs in when the opportunity presents itself.

I agree but some things should start to happen now. Does not matter if Wang wants to sell or keep the team hiring Ruff would only help the team and help Wang in the long run no matter what he does with the team. Paying Ruff would not put Wang in the poor house.

Seeing him crash and burn as a coach was satisfying.
