Congrats, your team is so much better then the "lowly Islanders", a whole 3pts better. Islanders fans aren't stupid, we know the issues. The sad part is the Islanders are truly a good coach and 1-2 players away from being one of the better teams in the conference. We are being held hostage by an idiot for an owner. - latorrem1
They are so brainwashed by Maloney and NY media that they think they are elite. We as fans know we suck but guess what the Rags do as well. I will keep saying it, without Nash or Lundqvist they do not make the playoffs. The same way without Nabby and JT we definitely miss as well. Not too much difference. With a decent coach we would be ahead of them now. Truth hurts. |

the problem is that the Islanders, like their fans, seem to have the ultimate goal of BEING BETTER THAN THE RANGERS
and not to win the Stanley Cup.
It's perfectly illustrated by the fact the Islanders played as though it was for the Cup last night, which is great, but where was that intensity when they lost 7-0 to the Flyers?
Beating the Flyers is just as important as beating the Rangers in the grand scheme of things isn't it?
unless, the only goal is to be better than the Rangers |

No I agree with this somewhat. This team has too many players that don't show up or care. That is on the coach. He needs to sit the Okposos and Baileys to wake them up. If these guys would put up 95% effort every game we would be in the 7 or 8 spot right now no doubt. |

fire capuano!
Trade Okposo, Reasoner, Streit, and Dipietro.
Get Evander Kane, Bobby Ryan and resign visynosky.
Give Strome and Reinhart a chance! - ISLES1119
you know that most of this is very unrealistic right?

if I were the Islanders, I would definitely trade Dipietro for Bobby Ryan in a second.

You probably just don't watch the Isles. Understandable since you're not a fan. They played both games against the Habs far better than the first game against the Rangers, that's for sure. First game against Pitt was probably the best they played all season. The frustrating thing about the Isles is game-to-game...no...period-to-period they can look either unbeatable or clueless. It's tough to figure their ceiling. But to say they only elevate their game against the Rangers is probably just to get a rise out of us, especially with the dig about us fans thrown in too. I'd submit that we're not the ones obsessing over a dumb comment by a blogger weeks after the fact, so maybe you're more emotional about the Isles than you care to admit? |

As good as guys like JT, Moulson, Grabner, and Nabby are playing there are way too many guys that are giving the team nothing. You cannot have a 2nd line that cannot score. |

I'm probably the most diplomatic Ranger fan about the Islanders that you'd ever meet in your entire life.

I don't think that's true at all. While there's still a rivalry between these teams and the games are some of the most fun of all matchups, I think (sadly) in the united world of players unions etc these rivalries aren't nearly as intense and transaction driven as they once were. In fact, the name "Rangers" rarely comes up here unless we're within a game or two of a matchup. I think the perception for Rangers fans may be that the Isles fans are always watching in envy but that's simply not the fact. From a personal standpoint I hate the Flyers more than the Ranges and those team hatreds change with the personalties of the teams from year to year. |

I hate the Flyers as much as I could possibly hate anything in life.
It's downright evil and obsessive the feelings I have for the Flyers. |

Exactly. And that's likely because of guys like Pronger etc. The rivalries of today appear to be more player driven than team driven. The moment Avery left town, my hatred for the Rangers decreased that much more. Personality wise, I think you guys (and we're just as bad) are kinda vanilla. Right now the rivalry is probably about as lukewarm as it's been in years. So no, we're not fueled by Ranger envy or anyting of the sort. We're fueled by a desire to get out of the 7 year funk this franchise has been in. |

agreed...rangers are prob 3 most "hated" team in the division behind the flyers and penguins...in fact the only reason why the rangers are "hated" is bc of the history. NOTHING remotely interesting has happened in this rivalry since 2006 (?) |

No they don't, this is something Rangers fans tell themselves to feel better when the Isles beat the Rangers. I must have missed the part of the game last night where the Rangers only tried for 6:00 minutes of a 60 minute hockey game. These arguements are embarassing, call it for what it is. The Isles played well but got beat by a better hockey team, no Isles fan will tell you differently. The Isles have the tools to be a good hockey team, we are just held hostage by a cheap idiot for an owner |

Islanders are better now than they have been in a long time, and they are only getting better. And as they get better, this is going to happen.
If the Islanders are in shot of 8th place and start selling and acquiring some more 2nd round draft picks instead of taking a shot at it, my wrath will soon follow. |

Hickey was mismatched...stuck out there against Nash almost every shift (edit -- makes you wonder since Cappy had the last change). That said, he shouldn't be in the lineup over Martinek while Martinek is actually healthy. |
