@TSNResearch Kev, how many times this season has one team received NO penalties in a game? Is that easy to find?

Dee is still complaining. I wonder what the theme of today's blog will be???!!!

The unique thing about Page is that he wrote songs for guitar that you can't play without figuring out how to tune the guitar the way he tuned it to play them, if that makes any sense. Those are the guys who are the "best" guitar players, to me- the guys who do unique things with the instrument. Another example is Steve Howe.

.

Some great comments here, maybe I like them because we appear to be up the same avenue on this. Agreed on Entwhistle, and of course I throw Squire and Geddy in there with them.

Also agreed on Nuno. The guy was technically perfect (you could throw Yngwie in that too). Other guys who don't get enough mention are Jeff Beck (who Clapton and Page call the best), Stevie Ray Vaughn, and since you mentioned Howe, Trevor Rabin. It would be easy to split this into categorial conversations based on ,technique, ingenuity, versatility etc...that's why I list Page #1 overall since he ranks high at least two of those categories and did at one time on all three. I still say Bonnomassa is the best in the game right now. Page-all time.

Another guy I'll throw in there and I'll get killed by metal heads is Jeff Buckley. While known mostly for his singing, I've heard lots of good guitarists say how brilliant his playing was. Paul McCartney compared him to Hendrix. Page said he was from a different planet. The kid had an understanding of chord progressions that I've never heard from a rock guitarist. I remember his bassist saying he was a modern day Hendrix and could shred like EVH but laughed the stuff off as a gimmick.

Awesome stuff...sorry to everyone that the board got sort of hijacked...I can (obviously) go on all day about this stuff.

Goals for:

13 NY ISLANDERS

20 NY RANGERS

They must have just not been healthy all season.

- UIF

You seem to forget that when teams play the isles, they mostly put in their back up goalies, not the case with the rags. Just looking at straight up stats is foolish.

Hey, you wanna talk Nuno Bettencourt, I will definitely be here all day.

Probably the biggest Extreme fan in the world back in the day. The guy is insane.

Kiss is WAY better than Madonna....at least they actually PLAY instruments and SING songs at their concerts.
- dcb1

Definitely....my point at the time was that neither had any real musical talent. They were showman and relied on makeup and, for Madonna, T&A to sustain their career.

But some of Gary Cherrone's lyrics were soooooooo sappy. Musically they were a good band. A good example was Peacemaker Die...musically cool song...lyrically

Not just in regard to last nights game, but this is the SECOND game we've gone without a power play this season to my recollection. Naturally in a one goal game we'll complain but ultimately this loss falls on another Cappy late game squandering. We had tons of chances in the first two periods but only cashed in on ONE. You can't win like that.

I agree....but I'd also put Dale Crover on that list. If you're talking all time "favorite", though, I'd have to go with John Henry Bonham .

yeah, some of it was very bad

but live Cherone was awesome, especially in the early Extreme days when they are little more "funky metal" as they would call it, he was an awesome front man.

Although I love 3 Sides to Every Story as much as anything.

The greatest show on earth....and the first music marketing legends. Of course, their songs are the ones you learn to play when you first pick up whatever instrument it is you're playing. I understand disliking them, though- my pet peeve is Bad Company. I think that music is cr*p, and I always have.

Moulson was NOTHING before he started playing with Tavares.
He has had 97 goals and 170 points the last 3 seasons playing with JT.

Nash has had 95 goals and 192 points in the last 3 seasons playing for the worst team in hockey with no-name centers.

I am sure if Nash was playing with Tavares the last three years those totals would have increased dramatically. After all, Tavares has been on the ice for 36 out of Moulson's last 37 goals.

If we go back the last 4 years Nash has 135 goals and Moulson has 98. Moulson is 29 years old and Nash is 28. Nash has 297 career goals. Moulson has 114.

I am not denying that Matt Moulson is an excellent goalscorer. He certainly is.

But, he has nowhere near the Hall of Fame talent and ability of Rick Nash.

- Downeaster

Who cares? He's a three time 30 goal scorer.

everytime I pick up my guitar to this day I instinctively start playing Blackbird.

But recently I discovered how many lessons are on YouTube for every song I can think of for guitar. I can't stop trying to learn how to play new songs, been learning on a 3 a day clip.

Let me clarify this for you, you brain dead idiot, the Rangers are a MUCH better team than the isles. More than half your team should be playing in the AHL. You have been the joke of the NHL for more than 20 years. LoserLMAO

Saying the Rangers would be nothing without Lundqvist is funny when I heard 7,000 Islanders fans chanting Lundqvist sucks all night.

Which is it?

- jimbro83

Did'nt say he was'nt good he just sucks because he plays for the Rangers like the rest of your players

- GioRock

OK, now you're out of your mind. The Isles dictated play for most of the first half and the Rangers the second half. It was a good game. We lost, move on. I have

it's one thing for fans to complain about officiating, that's what we do.

Was a little surprised that the Islanders themselves whined so much after the game about the officiating. Every other fan blasts anything John Tortorella says to the media. So I am allowed to bring it up that the coach of the Islanders used a penalty as an excuse for the loss.

Let me tell you guys something. The Rangers played Buffalo the other night and the Rangers had TWO penalties in overtime, a rare 5 on 3 for a full two minutes on overtime. You know what they did? They didn't whine about it, they KILLED IT OFF.

And then won in the shootout, where Lundqvist is virtually unbeatable.

- jimbro83

Well thats because they are the Rangers and they are everyone's heros. Every team should emulate them.

I thought the first period was even, the Islanders outplayed the Rangers in the second period, mostly because of the chances that the Islanders generated on the penalty kill which they despised so much, but the Rangers dominated the third.
There is no one on that team that can handle Nash and his size, by the third period when everyone's a little more tired, he just takes over a game, probably not a coincidence that every one of his eight goals this season have been in the third period.

- jimbro83

That is a pretty accurate description and as far as Nash he is quite the player. i honestly thought he'd fizzle when you guys got him, unfortunately I was wrong

I'm not one to complain about officiating but the game was horribly officiated. They let them play for a while which was good then when the game got a bit chippy there were some severe blown calls, quite a few interference penalties. You guys were clutching and grabbing when we turned it on in the second.

Try again. Isles have faced one more backup than the Rangers, and that's only if you count either Leafs goalie as a backup (Isles faced both, but they've evenly split games). You should try that foolish stat thing sometime...it can really round out your argument.

Which stat should I use? The not winning a playoff game since 1993? The fact that you finished last in the division how many times in a row? Yeah, tell me again how the isles are as good as the Rangers.
