WHy you gotta do that - Isles4fornow
Lets face it, no one wants to play for Wang or Snow. I can just imagine FA's reactions when they hear Snow is calling. The guy gets zero respect from around the league, he can't sell this team to anyone. Unless Wang sells and Snow is thrown out or a new GM is brought in that gets respect and players actually relate to his plan or what he is doing we are screwed. I hate it more than anyone but it is what it is. the biggest crime in all of this is the captaincy, if Streit gave it up it would hurt less. I just find it funny that a team that penny pinches is going to offer Streit a multi year contract 5 million a year when any other team would give him 2.5 or 3 tops? Snow is so (frank)ing out of his mind. If it's true of course? |

there have been so many, many times over the last 30 years where I was so disgusted with the Isles and their owners that I wanted to walk away. I just can't. I can't cheer for another team, it doesn't feel right. In 93 when Volek scored I don't think I stopped yelling for 15 to 20 minutes. The penalty shot Bates took was another unreal moment.
I've never been to Long Island, never seen a home game in person. I go see the Isles every two years when they come to town and I buy the NHL center ice package every year to watch the Isles play. I think I speak for all of us Isles fans when I say we are the Rihanna to their Chris Brown. - Isles_since_6

Just as in everyday life.
But most of the guys here are
Aside from being die hard Isles fans who love to speak their minds.
It truly amazing how much a lot of us have in common. |

hahaha he can demand wtvr he wants!!! he can demand 5,000,000,000 doesnt mean hell get it.
pretty sure pap also had certain demans, they werent met, he left. if streit thinks hes worth 5MM thats great!! go find it somewhere else, he wont be getting it on the island. - LetsGoIsles
Interesting you mentioned PAP because the also mentioned PAP this morning and how he left with us getting nothing in return.
They made a point to say if Streit isnt signed by the deadline, that he be traded so we dont get the short end of the stick again. |

very true. No matter how heated a discussion gets, I can come back here the next day and find a post I agree with by the same person I was thinking was a moron. We're emotionally invested in this team, which means we're all fvcking nuts. - Isles_since_6

Looked good last night. Losing effort, but Donovan was all over the place I thought. Finally put Kabanov-Nelson-Niederreiter together too. Result: Nino gets his first goal in like 6 or so games off a nice behind-the-back feed from Kabanov. Nelson had two points as well.
DiPietro...eh, so-so. The three he let in weren't so great, but he made a couple of nice saves that I was positive were going to be goals...so take that for what it's worth. |

I might have missed it but how did you become an Islander fan living in Canuck country - Vukota
grew up with my dad a big Canucks fan, they dressed me a Thomas Gradin Canucks jersey and I never heard of the Islanders until age 6. 1980. Dad watching the Stanley Cup finals and I'm watching the Isles for the first time. My dad used to complain about the Canucks every game during the game. Then along comes this team from New York that is ROLLING over competition. Physical, talented, great defense and goaltending. Star players like I've never seen before.
That was it. There never was any other team I'd cheer for again.
one very cool story I have is from when I was 15-16 years old and at the Canucks/Isles game here in Vancouver. I was wearing my Isles jersey and an older man about 5 rows behind me was also wearing an Isles jersey along with his wife. In the first intermission he walked down and started asking me why I was wearing the Isles jersey living in Vancouver. We talked for a bit and he explained that he and his wife were from Long Island and were following the Isles on their western road trip. This was before the internet, so the only Isles coverage I got was a tiny blurb in our local paper once every few weeks, a box score and if I was lucky, a game on tv once or twice a year
He took down my name and address and for the reason of the season he mailed me the weekly sports paper from Long Island so I could read all the Isles news. This guy and his wife had seasons tickets and I'm sure most of you will remember the sombreros thrown onto the ice occasionally after an Isles hattrick at home. Guess who? That was him and his wife.
It's been about 25 years since I met him but it's just another great story as one Isles fan looking out for another. I remember his company name but I wish I could remember his. All star Trucking.
That guy made every week like christmas for me for a half season. Every time I saw a sombrero on the ice it made me smile.

Well I'm late to this little party. But I heard something interesting on the NHL TV Network this morning.
They reported that Streit and the Isles are in negotiation for a new contract.
Ok we knew that already.
But what surprised me was they reported Streit's salary demand @ $5,000,000.00 per yr.
Is it just me? I dont think he's worth multi years at $5,000,000.00 per. - SCLI
I dont think so either, and as long as he's here they cant move the C to someone much more deserving like Okposo!

Im not defending snow but who said he was going to offer Mark a multi year 5mill per contract? Thats what Mark is reportedly asking for... not what is being offered.
