Boulton in the line up is not really the smartest thing, can't run four lines regularly. Boulton sucks, can't skate. - Cptmjl
Agreed, and the Rangers are undermanned from a regular lineup perspective so I'd rather we give them four good waves of pressure than 3 lines and a novelty act.

I'm all for adding toughness but Boulton isn't the answer, might as well have Gillies dress. He was'nt any less effective. The Islanders make a statement getting rid of Hailey and Gillies and play Boulton who is a far worse player? Makes no sense?
i read that it isnt career threatening which is good...right when it happened, i immediately thought of bryan berard. that was scary. happy to hear he'll be able to watch the isles beat the rangers with both eyes. i kid...but seriously...that was hard to watch. - LetsGoIsles
Yeah, you always worry about that.....glad he's going to be OK. I'm thinking most likely Staal has a broken orbital bone (he'd be very lucky if he doesn't), which means he'll be wearing a visor when he comes back, whether he likes it or not. That said, I'm also glad he'll be watching this game, instead of playing in it....we can use all the help we can get .

And that leads us to a point I was making about Wang in an earlier conversation on here. While I'm willing to defend him for being cheap right now based on his loss of revenue, I hate his intense desire to provide a PG culture here. I think both Gillies, Haley and Z were victims of that based on the Pittsburgh bloodbath game. Charles was mortified by his team looking like a 1970's club and banished them all. While Boulton performs the same type duties, he's not one of THOSE guys.

Which further proves that he still knows nothing about the sport- there was absolutely nothing that team needed more than to have a reason for it to bond. That wasn't about violence- it was about standing up for your brothers.
The other problem is this- the fans LIKE IT. You know...THE FANS. The people who BUY THE TICKETS.....yeah, THEM. This guy ran a business? For real? You have to wonder sometimes.

Yep...and like I say, THAT'S my problem with Wang. His desire to micromanage the culture of the team. He was one of the most outspoken owners on the 'ban fighting from hockey' push. His lack of historical hockey knowledge and fandom gives him a novice approach to the games ethics.
Nah, I pretty much am way more informed than you are on anything related to hockey.
You really should think twice before you write something ignorant.
And.... when people point out that something as being a tad off base you should man up and accept it instead of trying to get back at them with what you would consider an insult.
Makes you look small. - Downeaster
Yeah, his whopping 5 goals outside of the 2 he's scored against us are worth the $7.5 mil for sure

Also, you want a real stat?
Gaborik and Nash are being payed a combined $15M+ for 14 goals total between the two of them. John Tavares gets payed $5.5M and guess how many goals he has. 14.

Funniest thing about that is it was probably the best game I've seen this team play in fifteen years. Playing with an edge wins games. If I wanted to watch figure skating i would.

It's also his and Snow's quest to constantly re-invent the wheel. They want to be pioneers which leads to them nine times out of ten having egg on their faces.
She is an isles fan, of course she has thick skin. But at least she gets up early to cover her teams blog. Where's Jan?
Have you guys apologized for calling her Jewbacca? - jmo16
a few things, I am up early and drive an hour plus to Stamford daily, which doesn't always allow me to post a new blog early in the AM. 2) I like reading all the comments posted and incorporating/touching on some of the points made, which is why I don't always post one early in the AM. In addition, usually have a bit more information in there, which takes a bit longer to flesh out and write. 3) I am a male not a female. 4) Comments about my religion from my usual readers are taken with a grain of salt as I know usually they are kidding and I have a thick skin. From others, depends on the comment. I am sorry if the later posts mean that I am an inefficient, ineffectual and secondary type blogger compared to others, but I think those who read and comment daily would disagree.
I think that the Rangers, unless they are a target of an offer sheet, will probably get their RFA's signed this summer and get just under the cap and still go into next year with Richards and Gaborik. Rangers are about 10 million under the cap and need to sign McDonagh, Stepan and Hagelin all RFA's.
I predict they will amnesty Richards summer of 2014, when guys like Lundqvist, Girardi and Callahan are UFA's.
If they amnestied Richards this summer, it would be a 24 million payout.
Summer of 2014, it would be an 18 million pay out.
I see them giving him one more year, I do not see them still having a 6.6 million cap hit for Brad Richards in 2020, just don't see it. - jimbro83
only problem with that is if they buy him out during this off season there is no cap hit but if they buy out richards after 2014 the cap hit will be 6 mill per season because the contract was so frontloaded so they either buy him out after this year or just play him the next 4 years.

I'll never forget the game prior against Calgary when Phaneuf took his cheapshot on Tavares. Tavares got up went to the rest box, slammed the door and yelled at the refs. I referred to that as the 'slam heard around Long Island' on the yahoo boards. At that moment, the Pittsburgh game wasn't just about Talbots cheapshot in the previous matchup, but about the Islanders telling Colin Campbell, if you're not going to do your job, here's our answer.
For anyone who ever doubted the NHL's bias in turning a blind eye to certain situations, look no forward than the published emails between Campbell and officials advising refs to not call penalties on certain players etc. Campbell had an axe to grind with the Isles and did so by allowing guys like Phaneuf and Talbot to take regular cheapshots on our players. I still believe Campbell has a big influence on Shanny.
