Would you let him finish out the year or make a change?
- stveshdy

Why delay the inevitable? He's lost this team and doing little to get it back.

I don't view it as trying to save the season, I view it as the first step to breaking the bad habits and starting to learn good ones.

If that results in somehow saving the season, great...but this is a young team & I'm more concerned with avoiding bad habits that become ingrained.

- Jsaquella

The only young players are Schenn, and Couturier. There is a ton of veterans on this team. Guys like Giroux, Simmonds, Voracek, L Schenn are young in years but have a lot of NHL games under their belt.

This notion that this team struggles due to mistakes of youth isn't realistic.

Timonen, Briere, Gagne, Fedetenko, Coburn, Grossman, Gervais, Talbot, Hartnell, Knuble, the goaltenders are all veterans with plenty of NHL experience. That's half the roster right there.

This team loses because they repeat the same mistakes constantly, and play with zero discipline. Product of the coach as well as the players just being moronic.

6 + players on roster

I am surprised they have that many considering how many of the Flyers goals come on the PP.

Just reiterate, Lavy has a short shelf life, we were told this when he took over. The team is regressing and displays a pattern of in effectiveness against teams that play a certain way, fail to play 60 minutes this being incapable of protecting leads.
- JoeRussomanno

lavy's done a very good job, but this is a different, young team that still has to learn how to break out of their own zone at the mid point of the season

I don't think he has lost the players. I don't think they have tuned him out. The problem is they play how he wants them to play. They are aggressive to a fault. You can work as hard as you possibly can to try and do something. If you don't know how to do it, you'll fail.

If the team is giving effort (which many are saying) than I don't believe he's lost the team. They are playing for Lavi but his style seems to be more of the issue.

While the team is going through a bag skate on dry island, Lava should switch locker room stalls around.

Right about now that seems like a better option than what we have.

Squandering multiple goal leads constantly isn't my definition of effort.

I like Lava, but his coaching arc with the Isles and Canes was pretty much the same. Quick, early success right away with diminishing returns starting around year 2. I just think it is time for a change, doesn't mean he is awful coach, just the right time.

Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds and Luke Schenn are all 25 or under. Voracek and Schenn spent a lot of time elsewhere learning bad habits, playing in Columbus and Toronto since age 18.

There are vets, too and the fact that a lot of them look lost, too makes me question the coaching staff even more. Screams that the message isn't getting through or is inconsistent.

we're still relying on some really young players in key spots w/ responsibilities that are new to many of them. ex.- 3rd line centers are important on plyoff teams. this yr, couts has been largely inefective. schenn, simmonds and jake have had too many defensive hiccups to count...and we're relying on luke to do a 180 from last yr.

And at least in this case, teams have figured out how to beat him. Tonight the Pens finally played like the Rangers and the Devils in the second and third periods, and just pressured us until we cracked. We couldn't get them off their game and running around like we had previously, and we eventually coughed up the lead. Mostly because we don't know how to play a tight checking game and hold a lead.

We apparently have vastly different definitions of gloom. 'Cause this has been looking pretty effing gloomy for a while now in my opinion.

Team is struggling and is very inconsistant. The coaching hasn't been great. This team has talent but for some reason can't put it together.

Good teams know how to play both ways. And puck pressure isn't supposed to just happen in the offensive zone. It's supposed to happen all over the ice, in layers. It's not there for this team. And it's not due to a lack of effort.
