how does briere NOT get that shot on goal? HUGE chance to take the lead in the final 30 seconds.
- hammarby31

Guy has a lethal wrist shot, and he decides to wind up for a slapper from the mid-slot? And then holds his stick up forever so pretty much every Penguin on the ice has time to slide in and block it?

i was just saying he's not battling for ANYTHING

and i never want to see bruno gervais again

- Don'tForgetTocchet

on the tyign goal he didnt even touch the pen in front screening bryz, let alone attempt to move him out of their. could have allowed bryz to see the shot.

That's saying a lot, considering you're a flyers fan and have seen insane amounts of stupidity.

Imagine the stud defender playing 25 minutes a night they could have making 6million, instead of Briere floating around afraid of taking a hit.

DO you?

I don't know anymore. But they consistently manage to take their foot off the gas when they have what should be a comfortable lead

Is this the same coach who can't help but blow his load during a tight checking Rangers game?

I thought his game was always uptempo, push the pace.

- feelingkettle

Which they couldnt do.

Thats an issue. Whenever another team fore-checks them hard they cant transition. They have guys being completely lazy and having blown coverages the size of Coburn's nose. It isnt even players being too far ahead of the play to come back, they simply get outworked whenever the game goes to the boards.

Which is odd because I don't think defense with Lavvy's system.

We just talked about this last week, they lack the killer instinct to finish of the enemy when they have them wounded.

If there was a $6M stud defender available he would have been a Flyer in the offseason. Not saying Briere doesn't need to go, but it's unlikely there would be a stud D-man in his place if he was gone already. There just isn't one available.

They stopped doing every single thing in the 2nd period, that had them with a huge lead at the end of the 1st.

Just a stupid bunch of players, with a lot of the veterans making mistakes and "teaching" lazy play.

I'm pretty sure if they lose this game, Lavy is fired.

Well, they probably don't practice being a tight checking, shutdown team. So I'm guessing that if Lavy ever did tell them to play that way they'd look at him like a deer in the headlights.

When you have a 3 goal lead, all you have to do is check. This team can't do that. Because there is no base of it in the way they play. This team does one thing and only one thing well, which is forecheck. And they don't do that consistently. It's again evident that there is no checking structure in place. The Pens got the puck into the Flyers end easily time after time that period. And the Flyers are again struggling on the breakouts. The Flyers have once chance here. Try and outscore them.
