First concert Fugazi in this dive in Austin TX, my boyfriend protected me from the mosh pit, ah memories... Later I used to go to concerts with a very short female friend who was the perfect height to get bashed in the face with elbows... She would wear white T-shirts so that when they bloodied her nose it would be more dramatic, she cracked me up.

One of my favorite concerts was Sisters of Mercy in London they morphed "The Wall" into "Marianne", it was awesome....

No, it was in Oakland, which is where Pitt is, and was turned into campus housing. I spent 2-3 night a week at the place my senior year in HS. Still, to this day, my favorite place to see a show.
- cap1681

They took away all the Cabarets in and around Philly. That was a big loss for a lot of us who got to see some amazing bands in close quarters.

I've seen The Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, Ratdog, Furthur, The Other Ones, "The Dead", Phil Lesh and Friends, 7 Walkers, and Dark Star Orchestra, among others.

This is the first set of the first Grateful Dead show I saw (filmed, convieniently enough for me, pretty much from my perspective at the show).

A man after my own heart. Last show I saw was St. Patricks Day '95 at the Spectrum.

There is only one power trio. Others have tried to duplicate Cream, but no one has come close. The only thing that prevents them from being the best band of all time is longevity. (66-68) not quite long enough of a run.

Jack Bruce is such an underrated musician. One of the best bassists of all time. His vocals are amazing too. Not to mention he was one of the best cellists who ever lived. Baker is a monster on the skins, and Clapton is GOD.

When I saw them in 2005 at MSG for two shows, I was in awe.

Cream is my fave power trio to, but when it comes to pure chops, no trio is more amazing than Rush

Never saw a show at JFK. Mom was going to take me to Live Aid...but she ended up going with my aunt. I hate her

First concert was The Moody Blues. The Pink Floyd at the Vet. The Red Hot Chili Peppers (Rentals and Silverchair opened), then Rage Against the Machine. Then I discovered punk and the rest went down the pooper.
- jmatchett

First concert ever was Kiss in 77. I was 12 and it was awesome!

There is hope for him. I should absolutely not admit this (and even my wife rightfully makes fun of me for it), but one of my first concerts (as a young high schooler) was Debbie Gibson (in my defense she did look good to me in a skirt back then). The other was The Outfield. Hey I grew up in Williamsport PA. Not too many big acts came through there.

Since then I've been to a few other shows:
The Grateful Dead (18 times )
Jerry Garcia Band (2x)
Santana (2 or 3 times)
The Allman Brothers (around 7 or 8 times)
Crosby Stills and Nash
Bob Dylan (6 or 7 times)
The Rolling Stones (only once because they gouge you $$$)
B.B. King
Phish (37 times)

And various and sundry side projects, smaller acts, opening acts (Steve Miller, Dave Matthews, and Sting opened for the Grateful Dead at shows I saw). Those are only the bigger rock shows I've seen (well and one Blues act in Mr. King). If I expand into Jazz, Reggae, and Bluegrass I won't get poop done today. I love live music.

They're still the Feat. The guy that replaced Richie was his drum tech for years, but the guy can play.

Got to say hello to Richie after a show at the Borgata a few years back, but he had his head buried in a book as he walked by, and all I got was a grunt in reply.

Id still go.. and know damn well my Dad would love to see them.. could be a good gift to him in the future..

Always stings when you get the "cold shoulder" from people you look highly on.

However there is always the other end of that spectrum as well.. Totally OT, but I have always been a huge boxing fan. Boxed a bit when I was in high school, but never continued with it. A few years ago, I was privileged to meet and work with Joe Frazier. Over the next 3 years Joe and I (as well as his right hand man/ manager Les Wolff) really got to know each other pretty well..

For a guy as acclaimed and world renowned as Joe.. you couldn't find a more down to earth guy. Never turned away a fan.. never cut anybody short. A little over a month before he died, he wanted to shadow box with me.. guy couldnt stand for longer than a few minutes, but loved the interaction. Still miss his infectious smile and genuinely friendly demeanor.

So true! 2 of my faves were Return to Forever and Johnny Winter, both at the Chestnut. What a great place to see a show!

I saw Britney Spears with BB Mak opening because of the girl I was dating. I stood in the midst of mortal enemies dressed in Aeropostale clothing while I was in camo pants and some straight edge hoodie. I could have filled Valhalla with many souls if I'd had Vaulsian steel in my hand.

I wasn't offended by Richie; I had heard that's how he was. I got my comment in and wasn't pushy about it.

I have stories of true celebrity douchebaggery, and others like yours with Frazier. It's cool that you have that memory.

I wonder if the money from the Drake hotel was ever recovered? Methinks it was put in Peter Grant's pocket.

Only reason could never get into Rush is Geddy Lee's voice. It just grates on me for some reason. I appreciate their work, but could never be into that band.

Hey, I'll take it. I can at least guarantee it would be better than Nickleback. And at 16, having that girl up on my shoulders is about as close to the crazy monkey dance as I could hope.
