Pronger still does count agains the Cap fully and completely. But I get what you're saying.
- MJL

Yes, I went with the simple explanation rather than get into the whole shebang

Both Read and Grossmann off early... Usually means they are playing... But nothing official yet. #Flyers

Panaccio says Read would play if he's allowed to do so, despite pain in ribs
- Jsaquella

I'm always leery about guys rushing back from injury. If Read's good to that's fine but I'd rather not have him take the chance if there is reasonable doubt.

Then what is the problem? Why isn't a player allowed to retire with class?
- MJL

Well you know I'm stupid so I just followed the conversation about his possible retirement and how that would affect the team cap wise. So currently the guy should be retired because everyone knows he's not playing again but out of courtesy to the team that signed him long term he continues to sit on the Flyers roster which is preventing him from moving on with other things he might want to do if he's able including delaying his eventual election into the HHOF. He's forced by his own sense of right and wrong to linger when he shouldn't be.

None of it is a huge deal to me but the CBA averaging out contracts for cap hits is what caused this to be a problem so the CBA sucks coming and going.

All clear for you now?

I don't view it that way. If Pronger wanted to retire, he could. What you're not including is that Pronger entered into a contractual obligation willingly with the Flyers. It's not the Flyers fault he got hurt either. The Flyers are still paying him. I think his health is what is stopping him from moving on with his life. Not waiting to get in the Hall of Fame.

He'll go on a flowering description of Sean's book for 45 minutes, giving smack talk to Panaccio and finishing off by, saying "By the way suckers, I'm retiring"

Anyone here read Sean's book? Is it any good?

The excerpts I've read have been kinda entertaining.

If he went out like that, with his swagger and bravado back, it'd be worth the $4.9 million cap hit.

Knuble, Meszaros and Harry Z still on the ice. So they're out. That means Read is probably in. Foster/Grossmann off early so #8 is a GTD.
