You thinking Ballard has value loses all your credibility. If he did have value he would have been moved by now. No one wants him not even the Canucks. He is soft and is turnover prone. Say what you want about Komi but at least he is a tough guy and he was once good. He could easily be a bottom pairing guy with the canucks and add toughness.

There's your problem. Hockeysfuture (frank)ing sucks. Their prospect ratings are awful.

Connauton is nowhere near as good a prospect as Gaunce. Connauton likely will never be an NHL player. To have him rated anywhere close to Gaunce is an example of how weak their ratings system is.

He was a man possessed on that last shift. Thats easily the best goal hes scored all year. Usually they are one timers, deflections, or tap ins at the side of the net. He hasnt even attempted to do that until now. After he scored the goal, he won the faceoff and went down the ice again but came up short. Hope to see more of that out of him going forward.

Other than the very similar Datsuk goal I would say its one of the best goals I have seen all season. Regardless of going to a non contending team coho went to a place where he would build confidence. He wasn't gonna get that here. Wish him the best.

I agree totally. I still remember back in 2010 when Rick nash was offered in some sort of deal for Corey and MG said no.

But adding ovechkin's contact (even though booth & Luongo cancel it out) would kill u guys w the cap going down next year

U currently have 4mil available next year to sign 8 guys, two of which are Tanev & Schroeder who will get raises (Tanev more so)

Even if u get rid of booth, ballard, and Luongo and bring in no one significant,
That still only gives u around 17mil to sign 11guys

U guys are in some cap trouble next year for sure

Not really. There's hockey prospectus, but it's not really any better.

I just meant in terms of their ratings—which are biased, and the people who rate the prospects are not always the most competent.

The sites are decent for getting a bit of info/scouting, but don't put too much stock in the overall grades.

Connauton is a below average defender with an awesome shot—he shouldn't be anywhere close to Gaunce in terms of potential.

If Ovi didn't work he is very tradable. Cap problem no. Other players can moved as well the core of this team has been together for a long time. I'm in no way qualified to be a GM but I wouldn't be afraid to make changes that need to be made to stay within the league restrictions.

This is what boggles my mind. We lose Volpatti for nothing yet TO gets a 3rd/4th essentially for Mike Brown. I really liked Volpatti and to not get nothing for him is brutal. I dont know what MG was thinking when he thought he could sneak him through without getting claimed.

Next year is a funny year with the rollbacks . Gillis said we need to get younger and bigger. With AV gone it may be time to bring in young players. Young players are more NHL ready when drafted than 10 years ago.

With Salo's injury history, I can't blame Gillis for not wanting to match TB's offer. Too risky.
