Ballard is better than several of them, so it would be for an upgrade. But I agree, I don't see TO adding a D. - Fosco
Ballard to Det or Phi for a third. |

The only guys out of that list who could give the Canucks a chance in the playoffs are Clowe, Ott, and Morrow. Not sure what Vigneault's issue is with Ballard, although ice time was obviously down a bit due to his injury last night, I saw no reason to sit him the 2 previous games as he has been one of the more consistent D-men this season. Unfortunately I'm wondering if we are getting close to the end of Vigneault's tenure in Vancouver, every coach has a shelf life in the league and everything seems a little too complacent with the Canucks these days, not the best mind set for a playoff series. |

Price would be pretty high if he was made available, a lot of teams would be interested and he's very likely just going to be a rental if he wants to hit the open market and make big money. - Nucker101

Sadly, I think AV has squeezed all the lemonaid from the lemon here.
Can`t fire the players.....
Av, you will always be /1 in my book but coaches are hired to be fired and besides Linsey Ruff is available so go away - Beatle_john
Why'd you ask whether I had numerous hockeybuzz accounts the other day btw? |

What would you get for Luongo? Needs to be packaged . - VANTEL
Luongo Booth and a 2nd for Holtby and Ovechkin. I believe Luongo's value is high Ovi's is on the decline both need a resurgence elsewhere. Big contract for big contract. Not a huge fan of Ovi but I like Holtby he has potential. Ovi fills a scoring need. We have have a huge need. One solid first line won't get you a cup and potentially a team could miss the playoffs. A change like this would change both teams locker room dynamic in a big way. Won't happen but nice to think about. |

I've said all along it won't be much more than a 3rd liner, a decent non bluechip prospect and maybe a pick on top. And the other team would push to add some salary in return if the 3rd liner is cheap. - Nucker101
I would be happy with Nino Neiderreiter if Wang wasn't such a limp diick |

I don't think the Sabres will be looking for any more defensemen prospects...
We are so loaded with guys right now that we have put guys in the ECHL just so they can get playing time and won't have to rotate with all our AHL guys
Looking at your prospects,
Gaunce is prob the guy we'd be interested in
He's only ranked slightly better than connauton according to "hockeysfuture.com" so maybe that's a deal that could work out
Leopold available if u need an "offensive" defenseman
Hecht will also be available, although he won't help w scoring at all... He can fill a role as a solid PK guy and can play 3rd or 4th line minutes and won't make mistakes that get u hurt in the playoffs
Gaunce, 2nd --> Regehr, Hecht
I could see something like that happen |

Looks like Jensen could play in Chicago by this weekend. If he plays well, I would love to see him get a chance up here. He's got dynamic offensive talent, which this team sorely lacks. [/img] |

That's what Vancouver fans thought when Sturm and Samuelsson got traded for Booth. - Nucker101
What happened to Booth? Did he go full Penner? Or just having a hard time coming back from injury? |

First of all, Ballard is far from spot. That statement right there makes you lose a lot of credibility. Ballard would definitely be top 5, likely the 4th guy on the depth chart but I'm not too familiar with what sides the Leafs defencemen play. - Nucker101
You thinking Ballard has value loses all your credibility. If he did have value he would have been moved by now. No one wants him not even the Canucks. He is soft and is turnover prone. Say what you want about Komi but at least he is a tough guy and he was once good. He could easily be a bottom pairing guy with the canucks and add toughness. |

I would prefer to re-sign him at this point, he looks like he's regained his confidence and 20 goal form. He'd probably have quite a few teams interested in him as a UFA, it's a pretty weak class. - Nucker101
I agree if you can re-sign him 3 years 2.5 to play the 3 RD line then I would. I think Gillis pissed off MR when he gave him a salary cut and Raymond wants to sign in CGY |

Bottom line is MG doesnt know how to take any risks in deals. Not sure why? But his history has shown that he wont make a big splash. He proved it with the LU deal when he was offered Kadri Frattin/Bozak and a 2nd for Lu and he still said no. Our team needs a big move or some serious toughness but other than picks not sure which prospects we can trade that will bring back talent to help the lineup. |

Samuelsson has lost a step though, and he wasn't exactly a fast skater a couple of years ago either. - Nucker101
Wasn't my point homes... I hated Samuelsson and his stride stride gliiiiiiiiiiide skating style. Just sayin he wouldnt be put with the twins if Gillis returned to the well... If anything he'd be brought iback because our moron coach is determined to make Kesler look good at center no matter how many other players games he has to sacrifice to make it happen. |

There's your problem. Hockeysfuture (frank)ing sucks. Their prospect ratings are awful.
Connauton is nowhere near as good a prospect as Gaunce. Connauton likely will never be an NHL player. To have him rated anywhere close to Gaunce is an example of how weak their ratings system is.

I would consider 20 mil /2 years a tsunami ,never mind big splash |

Yes that coho goal was sick. Looking back is irrelevant. If we made a list of all the awesome players that have been shown the door our management looks like a joke and I'm not just talking about MG I don't think he has done a terrible job. - thundachunk
He was a man possessed on that last shift. Thats easily the best goal hes scored all year. Usually they are one timers, deflections, or tap ins at the side of the net. He hasnt even attempted to do that until now. After he scored the goal, he won the faceoff and went down the ice again but came up short. Hope to see more of that out of him going forward. |

I stand corrected. If Sundin signed that deal Gillis would have been fired by now. He was saved and we woudlnt have the Sedins on this team now. Disaster averted. |

That trade might work, prob have to be a 1st though...
But adding ovechkin's contact (even though booth & Luongo cancel it out) would kill u guys w the cap going down next year
According to capgeek.com,
U currently have 4mil available next year to sign 8 guys, two of which are Tanev & Schroeder who will get raises (Tanev more so)
Even if u get rid of booth, ballard, and Luongo and bring in no one significant,
That still only gives u around 17mil to sign 11guys
U guys are in some cap trouble next year for sure
