Agreed. The reason they got Ott is the same reason the Canucks would want him. They would have to overpay for sure.
I think the reason that quite a few Canucks fans are looking at Schneider as the better trading option at this point is because of the return he could yield. Lu's contract length is brutal - is obviously a major issue right now (despite what Gillis says through the media). Van needs depth/grit pretty badly. - Canuckleafer
I hate to tell you, but, the reason the Canucks have been losing isn't their lack of grit...it's because they can't (frank)in score!
In my scenario Kesler's playing RW... I'd rather have Kesler & Kassian on RW and Raymond & Booth on LW than Purcell anywhere in the mix. I hate that pu$$y. - DrChristianTroy
What for. Those are some strong feelings for a guy the Canucks only play once a year.
Because he doesn't hit? Who cares—he'd be in a top6 scoring role.
I hear you on the Kesler playing the wing, but it's not going to happen.
My opinion is still that we should go after Vermette & Torres from Phoenix. Move Luongo somewhere for draft picks to accommodate the salary. Or perhaps even a 3-way trade like:
To TBL: Luongo (Purcell & Lindback for Luongo)
To PHX: Purcell, Higgins (Vermette & Torres for Purcell & Higgins)
To VAN: Vermette, Torres, Lindback (Luongo & Higgins for Vermette, Torres & Lindback)
To me that's fair all the way around... Works for all teams involved. - DrChristianTroy
No, no it doesn't. It's fair, but it doesn't work for the Lightning.

Why are their no right-shot d-men on the list? It's clear we need another right-side d-man likely with a right shot..... - chompsey
Some Flames fan said that Sarich & Babchuck are available/expendable. They both bring something we need. Babchuck has a RH Garrison-like bomb and is solid enough to be a 3rd pairing guy. Sarich has a screw loose, plays mean & throws hits... I think he'd be rejuvenated in the playoffs. Both are relatively affordable...
Edler Tanev (I have no doubt he's capable of this role)
Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Sarich/Babchuck

I really like the Babchuk suggestion......cheaper than Ballard?
I would bet that Ballard for a 3rd is going to happen. What is sad about this is he will probably go to a contender and become a major contributor to his new team in the playoffs they will win a cup and Ballard is gonna be laughing and saying suck it AV and sorry MG I tried to tell you I like it here but your coach is a problem. MG is like the parent that just won't see his kids faults and keeps throwing money at him to work with and the kid just keeps wasting it going don't worry Dad I'll get it right this time. Good players are getting wasted IMO. I am actually surprised that last AV gave the shootout to Higgins and Hansen he tried to play the hot hand. I commend him for that but not much else. Whoa I need to slow down I almost went on a rant. Yikes

They need both. Quite a few games this year they have given up way too many goals. They've been pushed around and out-muscled. They win more battles, they get more opportunities maintain possession and to keep the pressure on.
Give Reggie a shot over there and if not you have Tanev, Bieksa and Garrison on the right side.
Hell, maybe Corrado comes in and steps up. Every year there is always a kid or two like that. - IanEsplen
Garrison has already said he's not comfortable there, and Bowness/AV have said they won't use him there 5v5. That's why we're all clamouring for another RHD.

Yes that coho goal was sick. Looking back is irrelevant. If we made a list of all the awesome players that have been shown the door our management looks like a joke and I'm not just talking about MG I don't think he has done a terrible job.
