I would re-acquire Samuelsson for cheap. |

No you wouldn't be right—you said Holtby outplayed Cory, which isn't true at all.
Disagree with pretty much everything here.
Especially the "calm in the net" comment. There's few in the entire league more calm than Cory. Have you ever heard Kevin Woodley's (Goalie Mag) description of Cory's style? Have a search for it—he sums it up pretty well.
I doubt you'll find anyone who claims Holtby is better than Schneider. That's not a knock on Holtby. - Fosco
Learn to read buddy; I said 'lately'. No doubt Corey is, and will be, of the most consistent tenders in the league. However, lately he hasn't looked confident at all. fighting the puck, making haphazard saves: Holtby has been better. That, sir, is a fact.
I think Schneider will be great (probably better than Braden), but lately not so much. |

My bad.
I must have misinterpreted.
Seemed to me like you were trying to take the credit away from Gillis and saying it was other factors that were more involved with those players re-signing. - Fosco
Say there is 10 pounds of credit available for the contracts signed and it's not being shared outside of management. I split the credit so management gets 3.33 pounds, the player gets 3.33 pounds and the city of Vancouver gets 3.33 pounds. I'm getting the remainder 0.01 credit just for walking you through this.
Yes I did take credit from Gillis and give it others. It's sharing the credit. I'm going to keep doing it too. Apparently, it's unfamiliar territory here. |

Though it is a fair deal, I'm not so sure Regehr would waive his no trade to go to Vancouver. If anything I see him returning to Calgary. Also I don't think Ott gets traded 5 months into his sabres career unless it's some ridiculous deal. Also what's the deal with wanting Schneider gone all of a sudden? Sure Luongo has outplayed him now but a year and a half from now Schneider would definitely be a better option than Luongo (both statistically and financially). - Sabresfan-365
Fickle fan base......... It's a tough topic. Do we throw our eggs in one basket or try and have a long last cup contending team?

It's debatable. Holtby had a slow start but has been given more games to work himself out. |

Overall, I'd prefer Connelly, as well, but if AV insists on keeping Kesler at center, that line needs a winger that can distribute the puck, and Purcell is a top6 puck-moving winger—there really aren't too many out there... - Fosco
I don't know I think this kid has great vision I've seen him quarter back a PP a quite a few times. |

I liked Samuelsson, he had ice in his veins, was clutch many times with the Canucks. He probably had the most leathal shot of all the forwards. Id rather have a healthy Samuelsson then Booth no question, he's just a better player. That being said, Gilles was probably looking at the age of Booth, and his potential for years to come. Samuelsson's injuries were to numerous, he was a 30 goal scorer who missed there 2011 run and was a bandaid. When healthy he's better than Booth. The Canucks have enough boy scouts in there lineup, a little bit of swagger and Stanley Cup petigree that he brought never hurts. In 2010, he singlehandedly torched the Kings for us. - gunner2233
I agree about the age and I'll add the contract was expiring... and much of whats being discussed is hind sight. Still, Booth was covered in red flags when he came here so it's not like it can be called bad luck.
Players like Sammy and Higgins are needed. They have true versitility and can produce in multiple roles. Booth....not at all...

I actually want to see Booth for an extended period of time before I make an evaluation on him. - Fosco
I agree we haven't seen enough yet its early. |

Higgins is needed. He is a major role player on this team and doesn't get near enough credit. |

True, he also isn't dealing with the 'Lu or him' thing; either way, they both should recover and be good. |

We're not moving Connolly. I honestly don't see a deal of magnitude happening between the Lightning and Canucks. |

All I see is Kesler is a cancer, or hurt, or a disappointment...
Blah blah blah
Makes me think Vancouver might move him
Maybe I'm off base here?
If so, why does he get ripped so much? |

He gets ripped because of the dives. Other than that, people generally like the guy.
If there was an issue, i think we would have seen him dealt by now.
Nothing against Pommer, but it will take more than him to land Kesler. |

If the team fails this year, which they will IMO, you'll see changes for next year. But don't expect anything of magnitude heading into the playoffs. |

Not sure how they do things in buffalo, but here we have a " What have you done for me lately" mentality, seeing as kesler is injured hes done nothing. We always pick on the injured guys on our team |

It's been a strange year with:
The lockout and subsequent compressed schedule.
The lack of a training camp for a veteran team.
The Luongo/Schneider fiasco.
The length of recovery and injury to Kesler.
The fact AV is an idiot and he continually puts strange lines out there?
The fact we STILL don't have a contributing second line after how many years?
The fact we used to have strength up the middle and now it's a weakness! |
