Toss up. Sony uses Cinavia. It's a type of anti-piracy on dvds and blu rays. Not all videos use this, but a lot more are starting. The 360 doesn't bother with the Cinavia, but it won't play all of the blurays...anything that comes up as "Mencoder" probably won't play, and those are blu rays. But not all blurays need that encoder.

Also depends on which exclusive games he like too.
