I am lukewarm on Bernier.
How many NHL games does he have in totality?
Just don't think there is enough evidence to justify trading a valuable piece out of Buffalo for a goalie that may be good?
I guess it would depend on what or who we are giving up to acquire Bernier and who we would be getting for Miller in the other deal.
Makarov is 2 years away I think and then it looks like we will be set in goal for quite some time again with him.

going to be 24 and is an RFA.

I would like to see Miller in Tampa. That team with Miller wins a Cup in my opinion.

No way Darcy trades him in conference.

How can u be "lukewarm" on Bernier due to his lack of NHL games played,
But be confident that Makarov will be an adequate replacement?

I admit, Makarov has looked good this season,
But there's no guarantee his play can translate to the NHL level...
And while Bernier hasn't had the chance to be #1,
That's only bc Quick has been so good
Bernier is only available bc of Quick, and is generally thought of as the best young Goalie available
He's looked good in the opportunity he has had
I guess he's also a risk,
But at least we've seen him be successful to a small degree in the NHL, which gives me more confidence than a guy like Makarov who's only been good in one year of juniors

Just think 3 years from now when we are still a 10th place team and still have our "core" we can think back to this season for what we could have received for how well (Miller, Pominville, Vanek) are playing right now.

Ya it was...
He needs work in his own zone, but I don't think anyone in Buffalo is upset about how he's been coming along so far

Why did Vancouver take Kassian off the top line w the Sedins?
Play him on that line, he'll score 20+
Keep him on the 3rd, and youre looking at 10-15
Since Burrows can prob be just as effective on the 2nd line w Kesler (if he can get healthy), it just makes sense to have two really strong scoring lines...
Let Higgins play on the 3rd

Just an outside point of view

He has been pretty amazing overall though since the World JRs tourney...
Every goalie has an off night here n there, but he has been putting up absolutely amazing number these past couple months

It's still a huge question mark IMO though as to whether or not he can eventually be our replacement to Miller?

Yeah, Ive been following his streak this year. I figured he would get torched eventually.

Considering he's so young and plays sporadically like most back-ups with a true #1 in front of them though....
There's a reason he's so highly thought of throughout the league
And his #s this season are among the best in the NHL

No denying how good he's been recently
But overall, his #s in Juniors aren't that impressive
His predesessor (Lieuwen, also a Sabres prospect) couldn't even win an AHL job this year and has spent most of the season in the ECHL...
Maybe Makarov just needed to be "the" guy,
And it's certainly encouraging how he's come on so strong after a pretty rough start to the season, but he's far from a "can't miss, future #1 NHL goalie"
I'm definitely encouraged by his progress,
But I'm not willing to put all my eggs in just one basket as far as eventually replacing Miller goes
And with neither Knapp and Lieuwen showing much in their first year in the pros, they don't really give me much hope that either of them will be ready to start in the NHL after next season either

Ya tell AV that (poop) because we have been screaming about his brutal line juggling. I think Kassian should be second line because the top line isn't our prob... But Playing 3rd or 4th line is a miss use of kassian.... He won't develop if he is playing under 10 min a night.

I hear ya,
We're going through that with Grigorenko being underused right now too...

Do u think Vancouver might fire him if u guys don't go deep in The playoffs this year?
The guy is obviously a good coach,
But u guys really should've won a cup by now with that roster
