So Flynn and Porter are NHL caliber player for the Sabres? we are in trouble. They should be on the first ride back to the AHL. - SABRES 89
as i was watching last night i was thinking- how can we comptete on a nightly basis with a lineup that includes the likes of flynn, porter, brennan, hecht, gerbe, stafford, hell even grigo at this point. they are fine, theres worse, but after the 1st line its like the roster falls off a cliff... |

I've seen enough, they can't. We have and had enough Hecht type players we don't need 2 more. - SABRES 89
Hecht pre-lockout was one of our better players. Flynn and Porter bring way more to the table than Ellis or McCormick. There certainly not first liners but what are the other options? There not playing first line minutes. |

Brennan scored a PP goal last night. Which is the sole reason he is here. Porter is a 4th line center. The problem is not those guys. They can play there 10-12 minutes a night and be fine. The problem is the "regression" of Marcus Foligno and Drew Stafford, we have no true top 6 |

They are not scoring 40+. They are no good. They are 3rd line role players that are really good on the D side. It is exactly what you want on the third line. I noticed everytime that line was out there, and not in a bad way. |

Brian Flynn 45 games in Rochester 16 goals 16 assists
Matt Ellis 10 games 0 goals 2 assists.
Matt Ellis is not even a good AHL'er. Flynn has some talent |

Sure. What exactly are you expecting? Don't you want to see if these guys can play? - sbroads24
This is essentially an a super extended pre-season. Might as well play em. |

It's funny how the Gerbe is an AHL'er comments have slowed down since he has been scoring. Rolston is getting this team to play better. Firing Ruff was literally the best thing to happen to this team in a while |

Gerbe does nothing for me. He scored 3 goals, great. He was the main reason Carolina scored the GWG. Had 3 chances to get the puck out of the zone and could not. I always see him falling and just being tossed around.
The Gerbe--Ennis--Ott line, I cannot stand. |

This. As depressing as being last in goals against and second last in puck possesion is, Rolston is applying a new logic to the situation.
EDIT: Last in shots against. Maybe goals too I dont know. |

Not even close anymore. I'm willing to give these guys time with him. Were not a contender, and sending Gerbe and Flynn to Rochester to nothing to change that |

My memory is fine. Scott Gomez was also one of the league's leading scores pre-2004 lockout. So what!! I am not sure why Hecht being a decent player then has to do with why he is still on the team now. You do remember that 2004 was 9 years ago right? |

He was a solid #3 line player back in the day - you would pair him against the other teams top line and he would do a solid defensive job...players like Hecht were valuable when you had 2 lines that could score - now we only have 4 players that can score (Vanek line & Ennis)
The 2 biggest gaping holes on this team that kill us - complete lack of a #2 line and a lack of a physical steady presence on defense - our defense is a bunch of finessee players except for Regehr who has regressed into the 2nd coming of Craig Rivet
Myers and Ehroff need to be split and complimented with physical stay-at-home defenders so they can do their thing...they do not work together... |
