I'd wait and hope to maximize the asset, if he even decides to waive the clause.
- Jsaquella

Im not saying right now.. Im saying, we are clearly out of a playoff spot and he is willing to waive.. Nobody offers anything big.. its 20 minutes before deadline... Ill take a 6th rounder

He didn't trade both for Weber. It's possible he moves one or the other. I hope he doesn't unless the return is a good.
- Jsaquella

unless its for OEL or pietra i dont do it.

Agreed. People fail to realize that the players have to manage the game on-ice, and that yes, Lavi's system isn't well-suited for teams like the Rangers, but to me, the Flyers looked too flat at times last night, and I think get caught up in games where they're being tightly checked and contested. I think Lavi is part of the problem, but he cannot be blamed for all of this.
- Flyers_V88

in a game where there was little energy after the first period, especially from the top guys, he basically sat rinaldo, who we all know is a 4th line guy - but why not reward him because he was playing very well, and mix him in with the 1st or 2nd lines, to wake them all up and who the hell knows - maybe something DIFFERENT than sleepwalking through 40 minutes happens.

the coach can't prevent execution mistakes, but there's plenty of blame to go around for both sides last night. totally winnable, and very important game and they poop the bed.

I was a LOT more doom and gloom that year. I still think there's a ton of talent on this team and that they can make the playoffs. But the push has to come soon.

I do think if they are under .500 after Sunday's game that changes will come.

- Jsaquella

Agreed. I just feel bleh right now, at this point in that season I think I was ready to send the whole team to the glue factory (except Lappy).

To be honest, I can't tell if I'm looking forward to or dreading the coming changes.

apples-oranges

That was then, this is now.

If you use the "didn't trade them for Weber" argument as the benchmark, you'll never make a trade again.

- Scoob

Very true, but I think given the potential return and what it would mean right now at this point, it's more likely a no than yes that both, or one of them gets moved. I mean really, what would an OEL or Pietrangelo do for us right now? It wouldn't be the save-all, that's for sure.

I am actuall fairly stoked about the draft. There are some high end guys at the top that the Flyers might have a chance at. And you never know, they could really luck out and win the lottery.

I don't think it'd be that extreme, but I agree...get something if you're just going to buy him out in the summer.

The draft sounds like it'll be a good one. I can see anything from making the playoffs to winning the lottery happening, at this juncture.

They can't buy him out. Injured players can not be bought out

Thats my point.

Honestly.. as much as I have liked the guy.. I really hope he is playing his last games as a Flyer.

pronger has to be declared healthy in order for the flyers to buy him out. can't buy out an injured player.

Exactly, we need to use this as a measuring-stick for potential moves...

"were they moved for Weber? No. Will they be moved? Almost a guaranteed no"

- Flyers_V88

Things have changed since the summer and I honestly believe that Holmgren and the Flyers thought that they could get Weber for a boat load of cash and not players. If they could have realistically traded Couturier and Schenn for Weber or something like it, they would probably to it.

To say "they wouldn't trade Couturier/Schenn for Weber so they won't trade him for X player" is a moot argument.

Would rather see that than any team from the Atlantic (other than the Flyers) skating off with the Cup.

NJD or Pittsburgh winning a Cup would just suck.

yeah but saying they would trade him for perry is completely on the other end of the spectrum....i dont think anaheim will get much for a two month rental...definately not the caliber of couts or schenn.

Now our first round pick im deathly scared that he might use that instead.

I think that Meh generally sums things up. People were unhappy with the summer, then the early enthusiasm after the lockout subsided with the up and down play.

It's a good mix for apathy

I would like the Flyers to draft Darnell Nurse if possible for 2 reasons:

1) He has been compared to Chris Pronger
2) He is Donovan McNabb's nephew

See here's the thing, Anaheim is the team that can't re-sign him. If he gets traded here, the Flyers could re-sign him. Same applies to other teams. So Perry is not necessarily a rental for every team.
