Defence is a team game.

And the offense is struggling as much as the D. Putting more than a 23rd share of the blame on Edler is ridiculous.

I know you're frustrated with the team lately, but some of your comments are way off base.

They are off base to you. I have watched hockey for over 50 years. There are patterns that teams have. Yes I am frustrated. This is an easy team to get frustrated with. Starting with MG and going right into the coaching staff.

Other posters from other fan bases on here have said Canucks window is closed. They had their chance 2 years ago and missed. They should have made a few sizable changes. They kept on saying we will keep the core / THat is exactly what happened just like when we had the WCE line and Jovo. Mgmt kept hoping they would turn around. It never did and we didn't imptove until we made significant changes.

There are very few playoff players on this team that can make an impact, I would give Burrows Hansen Bieksa and Lappiere the titles of money players . I don't want to knock the Sedins ,but their playoff history is nothing to brag about and add Edler Lu Raymond and a few others to that list.

This is not a team that will go deep and changes need to happen. A rolling stone gathers no moss. This team is not a rolling stone.

After recently payng more attention to the advanced stats, I've noticed a trend. The players who play the hardest minutes are usually the ones getting ripped by the fans and the players playing the easiest minutes are often getting praised. Definitely not a coincidence. Someone has to play the tough minutes, and Edler's doing a good job with them despite a revolving door of partners. It also adds more credibility to the COQ stat.

So far all you've presented is your own opinion without actual facts or numbers to back them up, it's hard to really make a strong argument without factual evidence. If you provided some detail in your argument then you could definitely convince me and probably Fosco(although he does LOVE Edler ).


And all of MG's biggest critics here(Myself, Booner and DCT, etc.) will tell you that MG hasn't replaced the skill this team has lost on trades and free agency in recent years and you're suggesting MG should trade Edler, the team's best offensive d-man and most skilled d-man?

Edlers a number 3 d-man now? Hamhuis, too eh? I would rank them both in the top 30 in the NHL. CHI has two of the best D-men in the league, and if both were signed to new contracts this year lime Edler, they would demand 6 million plus each. Boston, outside of Chara, I would take Edler and Hamhuis over any others and again Chara is paid way more money. Nashville, the same with Boston with Weber instead of Chara. WPG? Their defense sucks outside of Buff and Bogosian and I don't consider those 2 better all-around d-men than Hamhuis or Edler. Phoenix, outside of Ekman-Larsson, I would take Edler and Hamhuis by a tad over Yandle. LA, outside of Doughty, I would take those over anyone again. And again, Doughty gets paid 7 million.

Quite a few, including depth players and players that are considered to be struggling(Doughty for example) that have really strong advanced stats. Hell, just read some of Yost's blogs if you need convincing. They aren't always right, but they're more accurate than the doubters think.

I want these to happen before the end of trade deadline:

1. New coaching from top to bottom.
2. Get rid of Lu.
3. I was going to write some more points, but now that I think about it thats all I really want

+/- Is such an overrated stat. I do agree that tonight Edler has been very mediocre though. To be fair, Salo had better stats than Tanev.
