Agreed. I was ok with the Garrison signing (always thought he payed a bit too much, though) because I was under the impression that Garrison was comfortable playing the right side at even strength.

Doesn't make a lot of sense now.

If they can find a solid, affordable RHD for the bottom pairing, and spread out the ice time, I'd be ok with running with;

Edler - Tanev
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Garrison - trade

Yeah, I assumed the same with Garrison. It really makes you wonder about Gillis now though. I would definitely move Ballard for a RHD or move Ballard for a pick and then make a move for a RHD.

We need to stop giving our players to buffalo and stop taking players from florida.

Hodgson/erhoff,grabner,first>ballard,kassian

The reason why were not looking at these things are that our team has always been a contender. Well look back on these trades 2-3 years and regret them. Maybe not the hodgson one, but for sure letting erhoff go and trading for ballard.

I was leading the charge of hating the trade the day it happened, I lost my (frank)ing mind.

I actually think that there going to break out of it pretty soon, I see them playing better and not being rewarded. There playing like a team in a slump, but nearing the end of the slump, once they get some bounces and confidence they'll then get on a winning streak. This is the way it always goes with the Canucks.

I don't remember how I found out actually. I think it was a text from my buddy but I thought he was trolling me and then I saw it on a TV and lost it. I went from shocked, to pissed to depressed.

Also, shootout wins arnt real wins, as shootout loses arnt real loses. There just skill competition gimiks and you can tell Vigneault doesnt even take them that seriously, as he never puts out best scorers in them. I know Edlers a good offensive defensman, but he's not a shootout specialist, he's a 6'3" 220 lb bomber from the point, he's no Erik Karlsson, dont know why he's always shooting. Where's Raymond, Schroeder, Daniel Sedin ?? Sedins a 30 goal scoring in the NHL, you think he could score on a break away every once in a while?

The Canucks true record factoring shootouts as ties as they really truely are is...
9-6-7, that would make them a .667% hockey team

I don't remember anyone saying a word about advanced stats when the trade went down. The consensus was pretty much always that the Canucks lost the more talented player in the deal.

Advanced stats only go so far. Hodgson was never called a bad player—he had, and still has defensive issues. He's a good enough offensive player that they will even out in the long run.

I mourn with you. I believe Chicago's gonna win again. Unbeleivable, a team that was in utter oblivion 5 years ago, while the Canucks have been a consistantly good team for the last 12 years on average and get nothing. I could say the same thing about the Kings.

Canucks win 8 of the last 10 NW division titles for nothing, 9x 100 point seasons home ice in the last 11 seasons for nothing. numerous allstars, 1st teamers like Naslund, Bertuzzi, Sedin's etc for nothing.. Play the Violins..

All this reflecting is bring back my memory. I remember being at school as well and right after the text I started asking all my friends if a trade went down and then one of them said we were getting Myers and then I realized it was Kassian, but I was still holding out hope that at least another good player or pick would be involved. Hopefully Kassian pans out, because Hodgson's already a top 6 forward.

To make it worse we always lose to the eventual Cup Champion. Col,Det,Ana,Chi,Bos,LA, thats 6 champs lost to in the last 11 seasons. Thats a bitter pill, every second season on average being an above average team that teases and losing to the Cup Champ, the life of a Canuck fan. It'll probably happen again if we play Chicago again, It'll probably be an NHL record, 4 straight years losing to the Cup Champ.
