The Sens are quickly becoming my #2 team. Their ability to persevere with these ridiculous injuries is incredible. - gilbert pierogi
they're getting healthy now, or starting too.
karlsson is a write off for the season, but michalek will play tomorrow, anderson is probably only about a week away, max, and all indications are that spezza could be back by early april. things are starting to look up, now we jsut need to hold on til then. |

then sign him to 8 mil for 6 seasons.....
i dont think he'd say no to 8 mil?

i know this has nothing to do with this thread, but i need the opinion of sabres fans.....
i'm having a discussion/argument with another sabres fan (kingkong something or other) in the ducks blog, about trading for corey perry.
he seems to think that trading pomminville for corey perry (signed to an extention) straight up, is a fair deal, and pommer and a 1st is an overpayment.
please tell me it's not just me, and that this person is actually on crack if he thinks that's even close to enough to get perry. - sensarmy_11
No, it would have to be Pommer +. Perry's production puts him more on the Vanek level (and that could start an argument in of itself, which I'm not particularly interested in). |

actually, you're EXACT WORDS were - sensarmy_11
You are taking that one line, and ignoring everything else I said...
-perry wouldn't sign here
-I'm not giving up Pominville + for a rental
And besides all that,
Pominville for Perry straight up is a pretty fair deal
Who scored more points last year?
And Pominville has 3 more goals than Perry this year!
You are acting like Perry is some superstars way out of Pominville's league... But that's only true in name recognition,
Not ACTUAL production
AND Perry will cost significantly more than Pommer,
And with the cap going down, that is also a significant factor |

that one line was pretty telling, and considering what you just wrote, i think my read of what you were implying was pretty accurate.
you're obviously entitled to your opinion. if you think that pommer is worth perry straight up, that's fine. i think the fact that pretty much NOBODY else agrees with you sort of gives a boost to my opinion though. |

Why would he say yes right now though?
Why not wait till free agency hits and then he can have his choice of at least 5-6 teams that will offer the same deal? |

i see your point.
then yeah, i guess the only way i'd do it is if it was a guaranteed signing. losing pommer for basically nothing wouldnt help us at all |

I really don't care about the pissing match - I've made bad proposals in the past god knows. I do think if the Ducks move Perry it's because they can't afford him. In that scenario, to me, Pomminville is a good piece to use as the center of the trade. He is productive, reliable, and plays all situations. He's not Perry, but he brings a number of the same attributes. |

What "real" NHL team has 8 mil in cap space?
Isn't the cap going up only $1 mil next year? |

i agree, stupid pissing match. i will however make ONE LAST POINT (promise, it's my last one). IF the ducks move perry, it likely signals the start of atleast a partial rebuild, or re-tool if that's a better word. i don't think they're gonna want a 32 year old, who's best days are probably behind him (not saying he isn't good, just that it's likely his best days are in the past). more likely they'll want young RFA's or picks. if you can't afford a 27 year old perry at 7 mil, pretty sure you're not gonna want a 32 year old pommer for only 1.7 mil less. |

Lots of ppl are nickelback fans...
Doesn't mean they're any good
And u and I never had this "discussion/argument" you're talking about...
U just ripped on my post quite ridiculously after I was gone...
So if u want to actually go at it, then counter the points I made showing there isn't that much difference between the two players...
-Pominville out scored Perry last year
-Pominville has 3 more goals this year
-Perry plays with better line mates
And also counter the point that Pominville will cost roughly 2mil less on his next deal than Perry will,
Which with the cap going down is a very big deal
With all that in mind, how exactly is Perry sooooooo much better? |
