If Miller was a free agent this summer, what 8 teams would make a serious offer to him?
Edmonton
Calgary
C Bus
Islanders
Bolts
Panthers
Devils
Caps
that was the 8 that came to mind assuming the red wings resign Howard
how many of those teams would be on his no trade list of 8?
Just a thought I had while driving to the fishing hole earlier - homiedclown
Florida, Calgary and Columbus are def on his "hell no! List"
the others I could all see being on his list or possibly not being on it... The rest of those teams do have an appeal in some way or another |

Yeah, disagree with the above. Karlsson is great, I'd prefer him over any of our puck moving d for sure... but I do have a bias towards the Prongers/Charas/Webers of the world, who bring a physical dimension Karlsson (sp, I can't keep up with Swedish consonants) doesn't. He plays ok defense, just doesn't have the physical edge. |

I agree with the Housley comparison. Closest he came to the Norris was 92-93 when he had 97 points. That year he was second runner up. Chelios won, not sure who the first runner up was. Weber should have won last year. |

I do like Kaleta. I like the way he plays most of the time. That being said, I don't think Richards would make such a bone head play and cost his team the game, not to mention almost kill someone. I also think it makes Sabres fans look bad when they say things like this. That hit was stupid and dangerous. As a former hockey player I can tall you it is the most dangerous hit that will occur on the ice. He was in a defenseless position, his back was to Kaleta (he didn't turn away like you see alot of the time). I think Kaleta should have been suspended longer. This is not the first time he has put another player at serious risk to injury on an illegal hit. I don't care if Richards played the next shift or not, Kaleta could have ended his career with that nonsense. Bottom line, he crossed checked Richards in the back about 4 feet from the boards. That is scary, and for Kaleta not to own up to it is ridiculous. It shows he thinks he did nothing wrong. I hope he learns from it. The next time it happens, it could lead to a very serious injutry, which could mark the end of Pat Kaleta's career too. - Pillar
But what people fail to realize is that Kaleta takes 2x the cheap shots he dishes out. And there is never ever a suspension or hearing. So why is it ok for him to get cross checked, punched in the face, boarded etc, yet he does it and is Shanabanned
Edit: And yes hit hit was dirty and suspension worthy. It just seems like he is open game to the rest of the league |

You cant go by plus minus stats though. That is more of a line stat. Look at how bad Ottawa was 2 years ago. Before Anderson. If you were to pick a D based on his shut down ability he wouldnt be mentioned but if you look at everything he brings he is top 3 with Chara and Shea Weber. - Stripes77
i'm not even gonna reply to the other two......it's nice to see someone with a little logic.
i laugh at people who say karlsson is one-dimensional. it's VERY OBVIOUS these people don't watch karlsson play.
before he went down, he was playing almost 30 minutes a night, over 2 mins/g on the PK, was leading the league in takeaways.
he's BY FAR the best offensive d-man in the league, while at the same time being a much better than average defensive player
EASILY one of the 3 best in the league. anyone who says otherwise is just a hater, or doesnt' EVER watch him play. |

I am looking at everything. The other players can put up points and shut down the other teams best line. Karlson was awesome on the rush before his foot got cut half off.. He is a stud on the power play. He also is on the ice for more odd man rushes against then any of the other top tier defenders. He is not a physical presence, and he is a minus player. I would take a solid 2 way defender before I would take a guy like Karlson. He is no Lidstrom yet. He is still young. If he ever figures it out in his own end I might change my tune. But I have a feeling he will never be the same player after he returns from the injury. IT is more likely that he loses a step or 2. |

He's great. But he is kind of average defensively. I see his pocket get picked quite often. I would still take him over 99% of the NHL |

ID take Kassian back for a say 5th - hubie
Hahaha...
I still can't believe Vancouver traded us Hodgson
Thanks Canucks!
I do think Kassian will end up being a physical 15goal scorer for them that bounces between the 2nd & 3rd line...
If they keep him w the Sedins, then he'll get 20 goals |

I really hope we don't bring back ANY of those UFAs...
No freaking thank you
Not that anyone would trade for Scott, but hopefully we can move the other 3 at the deadline... Hecht prob just gets a low pick, but defensemen have been getting a prospect + a 2nd recently, that would be great for two guys I don't wanna re-sign anyways
Of the RFAs, only Hodgson will get a significant raise, and only around 1.5-2mil more most likely - jdfitz77
I forgot Sulzer too... I like sulzer as a 6th or 7th dman |

He takes a lot of cheap shots and draws a lot of minor penalties. He is very good at that. I am not saying that when another player takes a shot at Kaleta it's ok, but he did almost kill Richards on that play. And some of the posters are saying Richards was acting is absolutely ridiculous. A stinger is agony. I am surprised he got up so quickly. I don't think he was acting, and to accuse of of doing so is small minded and short sighted, and it discredit some valid points. |

why does defense have to only be about blocked shots and hits. lidstrom never had lots of hits or blocked shots, he played sound positional D, and was effective at taking the puck away with his stick.
if all that's important in playing defense is hits and blocked shots, then we smid should have been a norris finalist last year. |

The pure fact that he was logging so many minutes makes him that much more valuable.
Not only were other teams not scoring on them he was doing some scoring the best D is always a good O!!! Keep the puck out of your own end and you are doing your job. That is what gets it done in the NHL these days. This isn't 1992 anymore. The best D's in the game can skate pass and score. |

i've NEVER seen him get his pocket picked, simply because nobody can catch him. he gives the puck away, usually on a bad pass, but so do all good offensive d-men.
his defensive game is INCREDIBLY unerrated. i watched a bunch of sens games early this year, on other teams broadcasts (pitt, mtl, fla, etc) cuz i had to stream from work....and all anybody talked about was how effective he was in his OWN ZONE. |

you think?
i was under the impression that the lenght of deals, and the fact that they could be heavily front loaded, is what was keeping cap hits down. players are still gonna want to get paid, and now that teams don't have those "tools" anymore, i'm not sure how they'll keep salaries down.
maybe for the mid-range guys, salaries might go down a bit, but the "big name" guys are still gonna get paid big time......i think - sensarmy_11
You also have to remember the cap is going to go down. Percentage of cap eaten up big big contracts will go up. I think in the short term the big contracts will be smaller. That's why everyone was jumping through hoops to get their giant contracts before the lockout. |

I think Weber and Chara had better years then Karlson, but the voters generally go with the points guy. I tell you what, watching Peiterangelo from the blues, that kid is something special. He has the offensive ability and he plays with an edge to his game. He can be trusted in any situation and he is getting better every time I see him. I would love to have a guy like that on my team. He has the physicality and offensive ability to be a Norris candidate for the next 10 years. He struggled a little early this year, but he is really turning his game up a notch. |
