I don't disagree, although I was responding to the "which LW would I move? question. If Flames management/ownership can look past this season with a plan, I would move Iggy, Cammi, JBo, possibly Kipper and some of the support/riff raff. For the right price I would move guys like Stempniak even though I think he is a really good 3rd liner that can move up the line up when needed. Offer over payments to Perry and Getzlaf or Weiss (Perry max term @ $8mil...ish, Weiss @maybe 4-5 yrs at 6.5ish- mmmmm might be high...); hopefully Iggy wins it all and we resign him at 5-5.5mil; re-up Backs and Cervs @ 3mil a piece

Our top 9 looks like:

Baertschi- Weiss- Perry
Tanguay- Backlund- Iginla
GlenX- Cervenka- Hudler

This for around 37.5mil; we could even give more to Iggy or whoever. The D would need a replacement in the top 4 with JBo moving on. Maybe Wotherspoon impresses at camp or we trade for a young NHL ready Dman.

Here's the thing, was talking over with a few buddies & if Iggy truly wants to win a Cup, he aint stupid. He knows this team is going nowhere for a few more years. A few years is too many years for Iggy. Him & Edwards are tight. He may say, if the Flames save face & request him to waive his no trade publicly for the purpose of Flames deciding to try & do a short rebuild, he will agree to a trade & extend as long as its with the right team. So if a trade partner is approaching this no as a rental, the return will be way higher. I see Iggy doing this for the Flames, if he wants to win a Cup. I dont see Feaster looking at a long rebuild, he will want to be competitive almost immediately if possible. I dont see him parting with Kipper too quick. We have Broissoit & Gilles coming up but probably 2 years away. With Kipper & Ramos sharing the net next year, that would almost be the perfect bridge. So I would take side bets Kipper doesnt get moved & if he ever did, it would be next years trade deadline. JBO & Gio would be interesting trade bait.

Uninformed?
02/17: Penguins 4 - 3 Sabres
02/20: Flyers 6 - 5 Penguins
‎02/22: Panthers 1 - 3 Penguins (k, Panthers do suck)
02/24: Lightning 3 - 5 Penguins
02/26: Penguins 4 - 6 Panthers (and the Panthers still suck)
02/28: Penguins 1 - 4 Hurricanes
03/02: Penguins 7 - 6 Canadiens
03/04: Lightning 3 - 4 Penguins

Seems like Pens offence kicking serious ass, but they let in a lot of goals. So why do they need Iggy? I think Pens need Kipper, or do you you need me to remind you their first round loss last year?

Kipper this year...........3.24 GAA .870 Save % Not gonna be much better then what the Pens already have.

The Penguins goalies are not the problem. The big problem is the defense clearing out the front of the net. 80% of the goals that have been scored in the past 2-3 weeks have been within 8-10 feet in front of the net, most on 2nd and 3rd chance opportunities.

Queue a new goalie. Kipper for Sutter, a prospect, and a 3rd, then you can put Vak on waivers. Fleury and Kipper will be a nice combo.

Thank you, but no thank you. That's a lot to give up for a 36 year old rental goalie, considering it's BARELY an upgrade over what the Pens already have. They need a big, physical, stay at home defenseman.

Fair enough, but the Pens don't need Iginla their offence seems capable enough.

I would love to see Iginla on the Penguins, but its not something they need. I would rather Shero try to entice him in the offseason. Probably won't happen. It would be cool to see Iginla go somewhere, win a cup, then sign back in Calgary for the rest of his career. Being a Pens fan for 20+ years, and watching Mario for his entire career in a Pens sweater, i like seeing superstars stay in one place.

Saying that, a Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla line would be scary good

MAF has been great. Our goals against have been reflective of the team in front of the goalies. Forwards...especially the 2nd and 4th lines have been putrid defensively.

I'd rather have Glencross....all things considered.
